Wait-what just happened? Eleanor never apologizes. But that’s only because she’s never sorry for what she does. Hmmm…
Well, with any luck, everyone will be over their shock and we can find out a little more on Monday. Don’t touch that dial!

I’m shocked as well that she apologized, but she also told Larry to forgive her as a follow-up. There was a whole episode on the TV series Northern Exposure about how that is way more rude. The main character, Joel, was sent to attend cotillion with a bunch of 12 year olds to learn why. Ah cotillion, like a ten month dress rehearsal for Prom with no chance of sex at the end.
And somehow Eleanor can’t keep her eyes off the shiny…
“…keep her eyes of the shiny..”
Doubt that I could either, after all Edison’s got all the right things in all the right places.
And that shiny belly button thing ‘warms’ up Stephanie, may be it warms up Eleanor.
Roll on Monday…………..(never thought I’d say that and mean it!)
I’m strangely unsurprised that Eleanor is wearing jodhpurs. Poor girl is trying too hard.
So is the next scene involving Eleanor first cowering in a corner while murmuring “It has returned!” Then she gets all military and starts setting in motion plan M for Marvin?
jodphurs? i used to have a friend who moonlighted as a dominatrix for extra money on the side, she modeled some of her “work clothes” for me once. she would have considered jodphurs and riding boots as being seriously over dressed when working.
i rather think eleanor wouldn’t know how to “get all military”, i don’t see her as having a real “command voice” using phrases like “you people WILL…” and “there WILL be NO…” effectively, it requires a “presence” that most civilians never aquire.
Eleanor doesn’t have to. See also: Utopia, Unlimited.
In Groovy, we have yet to see the full extent of Eleanor’s sexual power. In Utopia, she commanded with whispers . . . and sex. Anyone who came to negotiate left naked, confused, and bankrupt (in more ways than one).
But here, confronted by Edison, she’s lost focus. She seems surprised, perhaps frightened (Eleanor?). The progress of her facial expression delightful.
“Thank you dear. Got any money?”
Pure Eleanor . . .
Charlie I would like to see: Utopia, Unlimited.
However the UK’s dearth of helpful comic book stores outside of London make it pretty rare to track anything.
Wouldn’t mind a hint of where a certain WebComic Artists store’s address is across the sound from Seattle.
Utopia’s been out of print for quite some time. I may have all the remaining copies.
And, if you want to see the bookstore, I finally got a website up! It ain’t much, but it’s a start: http://www.thepoulsbobookstop.com
How … weird. There’s a used bookshop that I used to go to frequently (before they changed the roads a bit) that is laid out very nearly identically to yours. At least, the bits that I can see.
The owner had two complete horseshoe sections (front and back) dedicated to sci-fi/fantasy. I need to return to that place….
Wait… I thought Eleanor was the old lady with the curled up hair and whatnot? Now I’m super-confused.
Eleanor curls her hair up for formal occasions, and sometimes for work.
Just don’t call her old. That’s a sensitive point with her.
