So, my ability to draw has mysteriously disappeared again. Rather than leave you with nothing, I thought it’d be nice to show you the three page strip I did for the Webcomic Underdogs Anthology comic.
This takes place the night before all the events that we’ve been following lately. I wanted to make a comic that would introduce most of the gang to new readers. I hope you like it. The next installment will be on Wednesday, and we’ll finish on Friday. It’ll be just like old times!
Aha, the plot thickens. Ahh, the good old days of D&D. No computers, just pen, pencils, paper and lots of imagination. It was a great way to spend time together and have fun.
BUT, it is getting FOWL, the chickens are loose. It is going to get EGGciting. 🙂
Everyone is surely ready to SCRAMBLE into action.
Just my cluck to have a flock of commenters who aren’t chicken when it comes to playing hunt and peck for the fowlest puns they can scratch up.
You people are pure poultry in motion, you know that?
Um…why did the chicken cross the road?
;P
To prove to the opossum it could be done!
Who? Us? Cluck NO!!
hehehehehehehehe
Ah Charlie you just Egg us on.
Ah Trapdoors & Trolls, a favourite pastime.
I have to go back to work after two weeks off, so this is a great way to ease the “grumpy”.
But how did the painting competition go?
Thanks for asking, I didn’t get anywhere BUT the level of the competition was really High. Speaking to a judge afterwards they had a really hard time picking best of show, eight judges eight separate selections.
Still had a lot of fun, bought myself a really nice Dragon…..and it’s not every day someone gets to say that!
This will do just fine for now. Take some deep breaths, Charlie, think calm, happy thoughts, get some rest, and keep us posted. 🙂
As few times as I’ve actually played tabletop role-playing games, I still really love when a story has its characters play a game amongst themselves. It lets you step outside the normal and have some fun while opening all of these doors to show how they interact with one another and deal with fantastic situations.
Yes, I agree. While I was stationed at Ft Knox (78-81), a bunch of us(GI’s and Civilians) where playing D&D, and having a good time. Until I hit a very, very bad patch of BAD luck (rolled a series of 2 & 3’s) and did a great job of nearly killing the party. For some reason, they put me on point after that. The good news is that the DM stopped the group from getting me killed after two weeks. It was fun???
Hehe, I thought I’d seen this before, but couldn’t remember where.
I’d love to play an RPG with this crew, but I’m 99.9% certain I’d get my hide handed to me in six seconds flat. I can barely win at a RPG video game, let alone a paper-and-pen one. Also, I love that little touch of using a wand to light a cigar.
I spent far too many hours playing D & D back in college. Our first game started in the afternoon, took a break to watch “Saturday Night Live,” and then continued till sometime the next morning.
Between Larry and Toivo’s exhaustive knowledge and experience, and Stephanie’s ability to roll any number she wants, I think you’d be in good hands.
Just don’t get downwind of Oviot when she’s lighting one of those rotten logs she calls stogies.
Take some time to recharge your batteries! We all have times like that. Until then, I shall enjoy this delightful short.
My friends all play D&D together, and they have a TON of Paladins. They made me swear that if I ever do join them that I promise not to be a Paladin. This page reminded me of that.
Never played a Paladin. I was always a Druid.
And there’ll be more Underdog Anthologies-I hope we see a Vatican Assassins short soon!
Played as a Cleric.
Ever tried to transport a character back to an Abbey for curing after he’d been bitten by a Vampire?
Lost a lot of the group on the Clerics must sleep to recover.
“Ride Captain Ride upon your myst’ry chick…”
Love that song. And, thanks to some trivia I gleaned from the cool comic “DadRockGirlPop,” I know that the “73” in the first line comes from the number of keys on the composer’s Rhodes piano.
Don’t remember the chickens part though…
