Larry got a good talking to as well. And that’s the talk we’ll be listening in to very soon.
Meanwhile, it’s nice to see Stephanie so happy. Let’s hope it lasts.

Larrryyyy, You got some ‘Splainin to Do
Charlie so many layers to your Art and Humour, love the subtle Robespierre touches. But are they Doughnuts or Bacon Bagels?
Oh and sat in a queue of traffic last night, was wondering what the ‘Lil Stinker’s reaction to a Spider would be? (There’s one living in my wing mirror, OK)
I feel so bad when I see a spider on my rear-view mirror. I usually stop if I can and take them off and put them on a bush.
Robespierre and a spider? He’d eat it quick as ever he could. That Li’l Stinker will eat almost anything.
Doughnuts. He had 5 of them in the first panel.
Bacon Bagels would be awesome.
I just had a mental picture of him going…Eeewwww Eight Legs, how freaky is that?
I really want bacon bagels to be a thing now.
Given Stephanie’s culinary powers, it could happen.
“But Larry thought it was dirty.”
Well, she’s not exactly wrong.
Nothing a cold shower couldn’t wash away.
Poor Larry, groggy, frustrated, and half-frozen. At least ONE of them had a good night…:)
Even Larry knew he wasn’t going to get much sleep going into this. But, it did make Stephanie feel better. I think he knew how worried she was.
So funny!
And neckties for everyone; it’s definitely a big day…
Gotta look professional, you know. They are engineers, after all.
I approve of Larry’s beverage making: coffee flavored sugar.
I just love Larry’s cup of coffee. Looks like mine
I modeled it on a 56 oz. coffee mug I got at a truck stop in Michigan. The thing is huge. I use it for ice water in the Summer, and Builder’s tea in the Winter.
Heh Heh, I have a 1 Litre Thermal Mug on my Desk called a FAT BOY.
Only ever filled it with Coffee Once………….I still have palpitations!
Builder’s Tea? How is that made?
It’s my favorite brand of tea. The tea shop down the street carries it, and the owner and I got hooked on it.
He might leave a little room for cream…
“I felt like I was made to be held close.”
Hmmmm…an echo of a lost memory resurfacing perhaps?
I was an aeronautical engineer for 30 years and never wore a necktie. We also never had boxes of donuts in the break room. Coincidence? Perhaps not…
My dad was a hydraulic engineer in the 50s and 60s, and I remember him in his black tie and white shirt, going off to work.
Sampson Enterprises has a bakery on site, just to make doughnuts for the employees. That’s one of the reasons why they have such employee loyalty.
And a memory from her former reality? Perhaps.
Or maybe she’s more like a human than she ever thought.
We’ll find out more soon.
Wow, I can’t believe that after everything, no-one’s given her “the talk”. 🙂
Eleanor was going to call it “The Boy Problem.” Stephanie’s never had to encounter it before.
Aww Stephanie is so adorable. Come on Larry, cut her a break!
I can really sympathize with Larry here. I’ve been kept up all night by the impending doom that comes with seeing an ex/about to be ex and all the stress of a break up. Will they even find Victoria though? I hope you wouldn’t be so evil as to tease us this whole time and then have the outcome be something totally different. But then again, we all do evil things from time to time as writers.
“…We all do evil things from time to time as writers.”
Boy, don’t we know that, mj. Sometimes it’s fun, and sometimes it hurts.
I’ll give you a teaser-I’m about to do something evil very soon.
And I hope the breakup went as well as these things can go. Best of luck, mj.
“we all do evil things from time to time as writers.”
Sometimes it feels like that’s all writers do. Like an abusive relationship. After putting characters through hell, the writer comes back in the 3rd act to say, “Hey, Baby. You know I didn’t mean it. It’ll be different next time.” (queue part 2: more of the same).
“I hope you wouldn’t be so evil as to tease us this whole time, and then have the outcome be something totally different.”
Um, mj, you’ve just encapsulated Charlie’s entire writing technique in a single sentence (except for the term “evil”, of course–I prefer “adroit”, myself).
I don’t think the possibility of impending romantic awkwardness was what kept Larry up….
I love the way Eleanor is making Robie beg for a bit of doughnut. 🙂
He’s so much fun. Whenever I have him in a strip I always have to have some business going on.
