Now that we have that out of the way, the next thing to do is figure how where everyone is going to stay. And for how long.
And Larry and Stephanie need to get home! Toivo and Prospero will be coming over for Tunnels and Trolls. Can’t disappoint the gang!
But first, Stephanie needs to have a few words with Caliban…
Dan, dat Da’an.
Kinda wonder exactly what they just escaped from. Love that forboding silhouette on panel 4, and Eleanor’s face on 5. Stephanie’s got some business needs dealin’ with.
Oh, you know pirates-they’re always getting into some scrape or another. Remember the “loaded dice” incident in the book.
Let’s hope whoever was shooting at them isn’t still there when they go back.
And Eleanor-she doesn’t know about Stephanie’s, ah, imagination when it comes to Green Demons.
Caliban has something along the lines of telepathy? I wonder if he can hear humachanical thoughts. (0011, 0010, 0001 MAYHEM) 🙂
Caliban has a strange combination of telepathic projection, expression, and body language. People from his world can understand him just fine.
He can’t read minds, though. At least, not human thoughts.
Heh – is there a reason you’re counting down in binary?
Thing one – I failed to mention on the previous page how gosh-darn LIKEABLE Lyssa’s face is. She looks like everybody’s nicest friend. Makes me wonder a little about Eleanor. Hmm.
Also, Prospero is going to be beside himself when he meets Mancanilla. Well, technically, TOIVO is going to be beside himself, but you know what I mean….
I wonder if Miranda has ever kissed someone who didn’t have fur on their upper lip. 😀
Hjels and Dragonsreach can answer that last question.
I’m glad Lyssa came across as so likeable. She really is the most “normal” member of the household. And she is a really nice person.
But she’s not easy to take advantage of. Not even for Eleanor.
Maybe she should stick around. Keep Eleanor on an even keel…
You’ll see what happens when Mancanilla meets Toivo and Prospero soon.
That was Stephanie counting down before clobbering Caliban, should he prove dangerous to Robespierre–she started at “1010”. 😀
Great story arc building. I’ve always liked Caliban. He has a very nostalgic look to his design. Looking forward to seeing how this scene plays out and what kind of adventure it may lead to. As always, good stuff!
Thanks, man. I may come to you for tips on shading his fur. I have to go back to “Lyssa and the Pirates” to see how I did it.
He is old fashioned-that design (in its most primitive form) dates from the early 70s.
And he’s so much fun to draw. Silent characters are a wonderful way to play with expressions and body language. You’ll see more next time.
Ahhh, Tempest theme naming. One of my favorite Shakespeare plays, so for what it’s worth, I am happy to see this.
He-hee! You got the “Tempest” reference! Yep, that’s one of my favorites too.
So far we have a Caliban, a Miranda, Toivo’s boyfriend is named Prospero, and…no Ariel. Yet.
Ooh! He *is* the cutest thing!
I…I’m speechless. I don’t know why I assumed Green Demons couldn’t speak, but…well. Color me wrong.
I do have to say, though, his expression is the second-to-last panel is simply adorable.
In’t he the cutest thing? With those downturned eyes, it’s tough to make him look anything but mean.
Wait till you see the next strip.
