You know, I really like how that last strip turned out, but I think it’s just not my style.
Huh? Didn’t she get enough Edison Time last week?
Maybe she just doesn’t like Eleanor. Well, yes, she definitely doesn’t like Eleanor. But it looks like there’s more to this than that.
If anyone can find out what it is, it’s Stephanie. Remember how people like to tell her things…
And thank you so much for your patience. I don’t know what happened, but my fingers are crossed that I don’t get an Artist’s block again.
Until I have to draw. It’s really difficult drawing with crossed fingers.
Larry, get yourself comfortable in a couch, grab a beer. This is going to be Girls’ Talk!
Welcome back Charlie!
Ah, it’s good to be back, my friend.
So how much more or less likely is Edison to drink when alone? Or is it not a meaningful variable in the equation of her alcohol abuse?
Generally more likely when she’s alone. Almost every time she talked on the phone she was plastered.
When she’s around other people she has to control herself more.
Aww, I missed these losers. Glad you found your muse.
Some Soul Searching?
or
Perhaps Phone Philo?
(Notice that Edison’s only two bubbles which means she’s really in rational mode.)
Oh and love the “Momma’s Home” confortable look on Robespierres face and has she changed her hair?
She did change her hair. Is she thinking of being more “grown-up?”
Soul Searching is a good guess. And a call to Philo would be interesting, wouldn’t it? Maybe we’d learn a little more about that trouble she got into back home.
Good eye-she is at 2 bubbles. Of course, it is still morning…
Love the way Robbie has cuddled round Edison’s neck. Nice touch.
He has his mommy, and he has his bacon. He’s a happy hexapod.
There’s something kind of empathetic about Robie’s expression in panel 3. Also, I’ve been wondering, when and why did she get a haircut? Did I miss something? I do like the new ‘do, though.
The new ‘do might have something to do with the way Robie greeted her.
She got the kicky new ‘do before she came home. Kind of a re-invention.
It makes her look a little more grown up, don’t you think? I wonder if it has anything to do with her wanting some “Edison time?”
I think the new hairstyle suits her very nicely. She looks very pretty, not to mention it’s a more mature hairstyle. Maybe a sign of wanting things to change?
I’ve noticed a few times Edison has asked for “Edison time” in regards to Elanore. Like here as soon as Anya wants to talk about her. I suspect there is more going on in that relationship than we are aware of.
And gosh I hope I got that HTML right.
There’s no love lost there. And you coded that like an IT professional. ^^
Delta-v’s right, as usual, Dandi Andi. You did it perfectly. My HTML skills are such that I can do bold and italic, and that’s about it.
Yes, there’s definitely the Eleanor Factor at work here. But there’s something else going on…
Charlie, I’m happy to see you posting again. The last time you had a severe case of Writer’s Block, someone died. 🙁 I hate when that happens…
One of the things I really love about following this webcomic is how much STUFF is going on inside the artwork. Even the simplest panel has small touches that turn it from a drawing to a piece of craftwork.
I’m looking at Robespierre in today’s strip and trying to decide exactly what emotions he’s projecting. That first panel looks quite blissful – eyes closed (and rolled up, I think) and all snuggled up against her. But what is that dangling from his tentacle? I cannot figure it out.
In panel 3 he actually looks kinda sad – because Edison isn’t going to go? And panel 4 looks like he’s planning to climb down.
I know I wondered once if he was going to return to Edison or stay with Stephanie – now I’m wondering all over again.
I’m so happy to be back, and especially to read all your great comments.
Now that Edison’s back, I have 4 characters to show. Sometimes I have to think: “Well, what’s Robespierre up to right now?”
Robie is fine in the first panel. He’s blissfully hanging on to “mom,” while clutching the last of the breakfast bacon. He’s contentedly munching it in panel three. In panel four he’s looking to get down and look for more food or mischief.
We don’t know where his main loyalties lie. Edison is “mom,” but he and Stephanie have been through so much together. Plus, he slept with Stephanie last night, since Larry and Edison were, ah, busy.
Hee, hee, Tru said “craftwork”! Observation confirmed. ^^
This keeps wandering back into my head during odd hours – wondering what “observation” you are making?
Oh, thank God, you’re back. While I would never begrudge you the time you need to recharge, it’s just so good to have GK to wait for twice a week. 🙂
I’m sort of curious about her knowledge about the whole pirate crew. Cause I don’t remember seeing her in Lyssa and the Pirates. Granted it’s been a few months since I read it. I’m just looking forward to seeing how she takes it. In her stride, knowing her. I assume she’s been told about them at some point.
Still, hearing about pirates, is a far cry from encountering pirates.
Nope, Edison didn’t happen till about 20 years after I wrote Lyssa. But Larry’s been keeping her up to date via their phone calls. Plus, they probably talked about it the night before.
I don’t think it’s the pirates that are putting her off, though…
