He-hee. No, they don’t keep hippos in the castle. Not as far as I know.
We’ll have to ask melaredblu about that. It is her world Stephanie’s in, after all. The fabulous, colorful (most often) world of Princess Chroma, that is!
And that strange guy? With the hippo on his head? Never seen him before. Though he does bear a strange resemblance to a certain creator of a cool comic called The M9 Girls. You know, that guy. The one they call Hipopotamo.
I want to apologize for the tardiness of today’s comic. My scanner died, and it took a while to get a good scan. A big Groovy, Kinda thank-you to the fine folks at Blue Sky Printing in Poulsbo for their wonderful help!
Well anyway, I hope you like our little crossover. Next time, we see a familiar face, someone falls, someone jumps, and someone…I’ve said too much already. You’ll just have to wait and see!
Man, now that I’m seeing the size of that sewage pipe, I kind of feel bad for ol’ Leo. That can’t have been fun to be trapped under–to be fair, though, it’s not as bad as some of the stuff I’ve done to him.
I adore his dialog on this page, by the way. Let it be known that while I helped write some of this, Charlie did indeed come up with the vast majority of this dialog on his own. And it is glorious.
Thank you. This shows why this comic is tops in my book.
Truth be told, most of this is my re-writing melaredblu’s dialogue. The hippo joke was her idea-I just changed it from a funny line to a (I hope) funny gag panel. And I wrote the last panel.
But I’m so glad you like it, melaredblu!
I hate to say this but just how much time passed between strip 477 and this one? It feels like I missed something.
It was only a couple of minutes. Leo introduced himself, Stephanie told him about Eleanor, and then she got to work on the pipe. He volunteered to use magic, but she wanted to help.
It was all good, but we didn’t want to slow the strip down with that. We had to get to that handsome hippo guy, after all.
Thanks!
BTW, after I return from TusCon42, I will start work on ‘Shego’s Ride.’
otherwise known as a Lear Jet. I finally got the parts to finish the “Kimminator1′. Yay!
Yay! I really want to see the Kimminator1. Next to your Godzilla creations, that’s my fave.
Hippos in Elysium must be the rave. Think of it: magical hippos! Much much better than Magical Little Ponies!
I love the castle’s perspective and shading that must have taken lots of effort!
Nice work Charlie.
“Lots of effort” is Charlie’s stock in trade. He firmly believes that anything worth doing is worth doing exquisitely. ^^
“I’ll just put a few more lines right there! No, wait, some stippling! No, wait..!”
Sometimes I think that if I didn’t have a regular schedule to (occasionally) meet, I’d never get some of these things posted.
Only a hippopotamus will do…
A little dab’ll do ya.
He won’t settle for no giraffes,
No golden marmosets will do.
It’s gotta be a hippopotamus,
’cause he ain’t runnin’ no zoo.
Um, did Sir Leopold use magic to clean up, or is he a master of lavatory sink usage?
And you used @Hipopotomo’s real face instead of one of his characters. O.o You’re catching me flat-footed so often that I’m thinking of getting arch supports.
Magic. If you notice, you’ll see that he’s in his uniform from the beginning of Princess Chroma.
I was going to put a line in panel one: “Don’t look. I’m changing,” but melaredblu and I decided that it was out of character and wouldn’t fit anyway.
And he’s dying to get Stephanie out so he can get her cleaned up. He’s a stickler for that sort of thing.
I love these crossovers you do. And I love that you actually have a machine in your narrative that allows you to explain how. The art is really top class as well. Really doing Chroma right. You guys are the best.
Thanks, brother!
High praise indeed, coming from the genius behind the greatest crossover/cameo anyone has ever done in the history of webcomics.
