Robots like hoagies. Who knew?
So, I came up with the title, and then looked up “berater.” According to Wiktionary, it’s a German word that means: “Advisor,” or “consultant.”
Someday I hope to meet a woman called Eradicate. I’d like to be an a world where she’s the third in her family to have that name.
I think if I ever had children, I’d give one of them Eradicate as a middle name. I’ve come to the decision middle names should be unusual — it gives the children the option to use it or omit it in favor of their first names.
Ding ding! We have a winner!
Storel, you are a genius. You are the first person to get that!
Yes, Eradicate “Rad” Sampson was the stereotyped Negro manservant in the Tom Swift Senior series. I’m a huge Tom Swift Jr. fan (as if you couldn’t tell).
In the Groovy, Kinda world though, Rad was revealed to be the true inventive genius. He took over and renamed the Swift Construction Company, married Mary Nestor, and moved the company from Shopton, New York to Innesmount, Jefferson.
Bless my hexapod, but you know your pop culture!
Haha, didn’t see your reply until now, sorry. I was a big fan of the Tom Swift Jr. series back in the ’70s (yes, I’m old) and while looking for ones I didn’t have yet at my local used bookstore, I stumbled across one of the original Tom Swift series about his dad: Tom Swift and his Airline Express, it was. Over the years I managed to pick up a few others, but I still only have 3 or 4 of the original series. I have NOT bothered to get any of the Tom Swift III series that came out in the ’90s or ’00s — they looked worse than either of the previous serieses. (That’s the plural of “series”, right?)
I was a huge Tom Swift Jr. Fan growing up in the 60 & 70s (I’m probably older than you), and it wasn’t until we were down in rural Kentucky, visiting my sister, that I stumbled across an old, tattered copy of “Tom Swift and His Aerial Warship.” I never even knew there was such a series. I’ve collected about 10 of them, but my heart is still with my almost complete collection of TS Jr.
Never got into III.

Well, Eradicate is her husband’s name. But I agree, unusual middle names can be fun. I know a number of people who go by their middle names.
Eradicate Sampson? Wasn’t that the name of the old Negro manservant in the *original* Tom Swift books? You have some interesting influences.
