Well, well, well. Miffy has a doctor? And Reade doesn’t seem to want to talk much about it (which is definitely a departure for her). Though Lyssa seems determined to winnow out the truth (which is not a departure for her). We’ll see how that one goes.
So, how is it that Reade gets to call Miffy “Cassie?” You would think Mif-I mean, Casmilinda, would take umbrage at such disrespect. Something is going on here.
What that something is will be revealed (at least a little bit of it) in our next action packed installment! Stay tuned!
I figured Reade doesn’t give a damn so that’s how she gets away with most things.
Well, there is that. But there’s a little more going on. I’m not sure if we’ll get to it this go-round, or save it for a future storyline.
I mean, I know how much you all love Miffy…
Is this Clyde Beatty is the same one who works with Bonnie Dunaway?
Oooh, you’re so close, Pops. And clever. There was a real Clyde Beatty. I’ll let you do the research.
Hmmm. I see why Miffy’s doctor might share a name with that other herder of felines. (But I wasn’t really close, even if I was too clever by half.)
You were clever-I love the Bonnie Dunaway reference.
Yippie… something new and (probably) weirdly twisted to look forward to. Just as I am off for pastures warm, escaping the cold of the north for the less than efficient WiFi of Borneo. But WiFi none the less so I’ll be tuning in, thank you Charlie.
Oooh, Borneo? I’m so jealous! Well, have a wonderful time and send pictures! I’ll do what I can up here in the cold and wet Pacific Northwest.
I think I need another archive dive. I’m starting to lose track of how various people know each other. That’s the only real problem with webcomics that go on for years. On the other hand, that means archive dives are LONG (and fun!). I have, in my saved bookmarks, only two, maybe three, webcomics that had an actual beginning and end. I found myself kind of bothered when they came to a tidy conclusion. On the other hand, I have a dozen or so that just … stopped. Incomplete. Those REALLY bother me, especially when it’s obvious that the author had some kind of specific story arc in mind and found themselves, for whatever reason (and I fully understand that there are good reasons [and bad]) to be unable to finish what is, when it comes down to it, a gift to readers.
Back when you thought you were going to stop posting, you had the generosity to post some kind of “what happens eventually” for us. I still refuse to accept most of it – but that’s just me. 😛 Those who decide to walk away and leave us in limbo do get under our skin. And I say this while acknowledging that you guys are under no real obligation to your readers to satisfy our need to know WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! But it’s a real need.
Long winded but sincere thank you, Charlie, for giving me years of excellent story-telling. I hope you will be able to go on for a while yet. OH! Also, excellent art!
Hey, sometimes I lose track, and I know these crazies better than anyone.
I know what you mean about comics that just…stop. I really hope Groovy, Kinda never ends that way. That’s why I did the Epilogue (well, that was the main reason. There were others.).
The Epilogue isn’t written in stone-many of the things in it have already changed. Back when I wrote it I hadn’t realized that Anya was co-heir to the Chuckleslovakian Throne, so she probably won’t end up living as Vampire Eleanor’s daytime love slave.
And you may think of Groovy, Kinda and other comics as gifts, and, they are, in a way. But they’re gifts to ourselves as well. Seeing our comics come to life is swell. Your comments and interactions are wonderful gifts that you give to us. Gifts that really keep us going.
Sincere thanks back atcha, Tru, for all your great comments. I plan to go on for a while, and I really hope you (and you, and you, and especially you) stick around and keep letting us all know what you think.
Thank you! I just love how that diner turned out.
What Tru said. Wouldn’t have thought to say all of it myself, but I agree with every word.
On a related topic, I need to do some archive diving myself. There’s an unfinished story arc you’ve promised to get back to some day, but I can’t remember exactly what all was going on. A summer camp, an exploding barrel of crawdads, something like that. It’ll keep a while longer.
On a semi-related topic, is Miffy short for Miff Cathmilinda?
That’s right, Pops, I did promise to finish that storyline off. Some big lugs were bullying Reade’s kids (and Jacob and Esther and Malcolm) so she and Lyssa and Allen and Mancanilla went up there to set things straight. I hit an Artist’s Block and wrapped it up in a hurry. We’ll see if I can get something out of it.
Speaking of Artist’s Block, I’ve got a peculiar one going right now. I’ve got 4 sweet panels done of the next strip, but the most important one is driving me nuts. Thank you for your continued patience, and I’ll post as soon as I have it done.
Miffy’s not short for Miff Cathmilinda, but it works and that’s a gag I may steal in the future.
