Happy Valentine’s Day! The Webcomic Underdogs had another of our cool gift exchanges, and I got the coolest gift ever. This year’s theme was: Valentine’s Day Gifts, where some of our characters give a gift to a character (or characters) from another comic.
My gift is from the wonderful comic Silent Kelpie Spirit.
And I love it. Thank you, Rachael!
So, I did one for the amazing comic, Paisley Brickstone (PBJ High). My poor black and white doesn’t do it justice.
Anyway, check ’em both out!
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE:
My good buddy and wonderful creator Neil Kapit has a new comic out! Cause for celebration! It’s Minnie & Max, Monster Girl Detectives
And it’s as much fun as the title suggests. Pop on over and subscribe right away!
Awesome gifts as usual!
Yes! Everyone did a great job! And big thanks to you for organizing it!
BTW I’ve created a characters page on TV Tropes.
It could use some work, I admit.
Thank you, Ateisticus! I haven’t had a chance to look it over, but when the dust settles on Dick Tracy (approaching deadline!) I’ll check it out. I must say, you’ve made a thorough list!
In the meanwhile Groovy, Kinda still has its own TV Tropes page
Wow! Somebody’s been working on the TV Tropes page! It looks great! Thank you!
I had no idea TV Tropes pages existed, much less that G,K had one. I read all through it and want to correct typos and make amusing asides!
Go for it, Pops! Edit to your heart’s content. You know a lot of the ins and outs of the Groovyverse.
Just be careful. TV Tropes is a site that’ll suck you in with all those cool references and rabbit holes. I can spend hours there.
I mean, HOW DID I NOT KNOW that Toivo has a last name???
Mackelakangishelmuumaki (sp) was the first name I came up with for the original strip way back in college.
I went to Michigan Tech, in the beautiful UP, with a rich Finnish tradition. There are a lot of Finn/Uper jokes starring a Toivo and Aino, so he was a natural.
The double U in the middle should have tipped me off to Finnish! (In contradistinction, in Welsh a W is treated not like a double U but like a double O, sometimes pronounced like ‘look’ and sometimes like ‘cool’.)
Somebody I know came from Houghton. I think her dad was faculty there. He’d be roughly our age, so wouldn’t have been on faculty yet when you were there.
You know someone from Houghton? It is indeed a small world. I have a lot of college chums who moved back up there. It’s tempting, despite (or because of) all the snow.
