Who knew that Reade Turner had a silly side?
Perhaps the kissing brings it out in her. Or maybe it’s whom she’s kissing. Either way, things get a little more serious next time. Stay tuned!

Hey Charlie, love Reade’s expressions in all of this.You nailed it! Sorry Eleanor, maybe gooseberry time for a while (if you know the over-the-pond sayings).
“Gooseberry time?”
I love her expression in panel 3 the most.
“Gooseberry” ……..an English expression for the third person on a date.
BUT I do recall some mentioning that Eleanor either was English, or had an English accent.
I just a mental image of Eleanor being portrayed by Emma Thompson.
Charlie who would you like to see as the actors for this as a movie…Edward Norton as Larry perhaps?
Thank you, Mike, for clearing that one up. So, the third person is the gooseberry?
I don’t know how long Eleanor would stand for that. She rather prefers the spotlight.
Emma Thompson would be perfect for Eleanor. I think she was a big influence during the “Importance” days. Or maybe Helena Bonham-Carter.
When I think about Groovy, Kinda as a series, or a movie, I picture it animated.
But if I was going to cast anyone in history as Larry, it would have been the great Sam Whipple, who, sadly, passed away many years ago.
He was a better dancer than Larry, that’s for sure.
Helena Bonham Carter..nah she couldn’t carry off Eleanor’s poise and class.
Besides there’s something about the woman which makes me want to switch off anything she’s in. Totally irrational I know.
Got the cast list
Reade = Stephanie Lawrence
Nelson = Kenneth Brannagh
Edison = Sascha Alexander
Mike, I looked up Stephanie and Sascha, and they would (have been) wonderful. Excellent casting.
Didn’t you once say Katy Manning (Doctor Who’s Jo Grant) would make a good Edison too?
As for Nelson, I think the actor who looks most like him is (was) John Ritter.
If I didn’t know any better, I’d think Reade was happy or something.
Not so sure getting to be with Nelson is worth being in bed with (hur hur) Eleanor, though. Once she’s got her claws in you, it’s awfully hard to get away. This might come back to haunt them later.
Oh, Reade is very happy right now.
Keep in mind that Nelson and Eleanor used to be an “item,” and that, at least in “The Importance of Being Eleanor” he’s still carrying a torch for her.
Being in bed with Eleanor isn’t such a bad thing. She’s legendary in that department.
It’s what happens after.
I am actually very excited to see what the aftermath is.
In general, kind of like panel one here, only with more fruit rinds and open flames.
I got it! Reade is actually River Song in another regeneration!
Ah ah ah!
Spoilers!
That’s a Doctor Who thing, right?
Yep!
awww Reade. It’s so nice to see her so happy. It’s the little things like finally being with the one you love that make life awesome. Though, they are being held hostage by Eleanor, so I’m worried about how they’ll come out of this. Will they be able to have the relationship they want? I don’t think Eleanor would let them get away as easy as that. No, there is something afoot.
I love Eleanor in the last panel. Such nonchalance.
I do like to see her happy. The kids are off at Camp Runamucca (courtesy of Eleanor), and she’s finally going to have a chance to be with Nelson.
True, Eleanor is involved.
But really, what could possibly go wrong?
Well, we are about to find out!!!!
~Crosses arms, stamps a foot and scowls~
You just HAD to say that, didn’t you?
Sorry! Sorry!
At the risk of being slightly irrelevant, I like the hen and chicks in the first panel. 🙂
Thanks! Generally speaking, if there’s a chicken in the strip, it’s going to be funnier or sillier.
“October 20th the Musical” ???
A light romantic comedy.
But don’t take my word for it.
“You’ll fall in love all over again.”
Marius Hjelseth.
It’s on the poster, right here.
It’s just my way of honoring Hjels for his awesome “Groovy, Kinda, The Musical.”
Very funny! I’ve been reading it, but haven’t caught up to the latest page yet.
Reade’s expression in panel 5….. I’ve seen a less predatory look on the face of a hungry tiger. Thirty years is a long time for unrequited lust.
