Oh, Stephanie. Good for Larry, though. He really can’t say no to her, or kitten books.
So, back when I had my used bookstore, I got about 5 truckloads of books from a storage unit. The owner had had a bookstore. For a while, I had the greatest collection of Washington State history books you’ve ever seen. And, for some reason, cat books. From the 50s and 60s. Dozens of them. Which is probably what inspired Stephanie’s love for them.
Anyway, next time, it’s a visit to the hospital! With unexpected results. You’ll see.
UPDATE: Hey, check out Joe Staton’s awesome work on our very own Edison Lighthouse in Dick Tracy.
Larry is a good person–a trifle cash-strapped, occasionally, but basically good. 🙂
Um, “…a visit to the hospital! With unexoected results…” Which of your regular readers is silly enough to EXPECT any particular result? ^^
He is a good guy, and really, he’d have to have a heart of stone to deny Stephanie kitten books.
I’m sure she just blurted out: “Kittens and bunnies and puppies? We’ll give you all the money in the store!”
And the poor guy had to go along with it.
I know you guys expect the unexpected. I just had to throw that in as a fun teaser.
The little old lady selling books reminds me of someone….
Wait, is that Toivo’s mother???
That exact thought occurred to me when I was drawing her. I decided not to go there because I would’ve had to make her more Neanderthal, and Larry would’ve known who she was.
Goods eye, Pops!
Ah, well, our gang of heroes doesn’t really need another plot twist, I suppose, but it would have been interesting. I will say that you wouldn’t need to change the drawing the least bit to make her ‘more Neanderthal’ but you might have to adjust her speech pattern a trifle. And if she lived in town Larry would know her, while if she lived elsewhere and was just visiting she wouldn’t have brought a storage unit full of books with her, so you win.
No winning involved, Pops. Who knows? She might’ve brought all the kitten (and puppy and bunny) books for her handsome son. Or to sell them to pay for the trip, even though Toivo makes a lot of money. Who knows?
And, boy, would I have to adjust her speech pattern. Full on Yooper, dere hey, doncha know, eh?
Somebody needs to get that girl a library card. And a table at the nearest cat cafe.
