Okay, I can’t take credit for Stephanie’s Memory Chest. That came from the brilliance that is melaredblu, creator of The Refraction of Princess Chroma, As I Lie Awake, and many other amazing bursts of creativity. Thank you, my cherished friend.
Now, Sir Huggers Kittyman is my pathetic attempt to do a cameo of Lushaka the Quick, from the breathtakingly beautiful, wonderfully written tale “Heart of Keol.”
Coming soon: Edison Lighthouse! Coming home, that is! She’s arriving on the next flight. What happens next may not exactly surprise you.
And, coming soon-the Webcomic Underdogs have done another wonderful Round-Robin, and you’ll be treated to some sweet, sweet guest art. I guarantee you’ll love it.
Meanwhile, Happy Every December Holiday There Is!
Y’know, a decently large print, maybe 11×17, of Stephanie’s Memory Chest, in all its glorious cross-hatched detail, printed on coated stock and suitable for framing, would make a great 2021 Christmas present for Groovy fans to give one another. If any such were available in time for next year’s shopping season.
That’s a wonderful idea, Pops!
Remind me of it in October, so I’ll have time to arrange all the memories and start pencilling.
That’s another excuse to go back and binge the series. Which, now that I think of it, is a good New Year’s Resolution.
I just so happen to have next year’s planner right here, so I flipped to October and started to write “Remind Charlie about Stephanie’s chest” and decided to rephrase it.
Ah Pops, you made me lol, as the young folks say.
Yeah, we would’ve been wondering about that one.
Heck, by October, Groovy, Kinda might be into August, webcomic time!
No wonder it took Larry so long to hit the target. How does he expect to aim the dart with his hand all the way behind his head?
Stephanie probably won one of those “impossible” games and the guy running the booth couldn’t call her out without exposing the scam, so he gave her the biggest prize he had in hopes that it would keep her quiet.
It worked.
I love her memory chest. Having everything carefully affixed and labeled is a nice touch that I didn’t even consider myself, but it makes perfect sense.
You would think that, with all the time he spent in bars with Nelson and Toivo in college, that he’d be better at darts.
As far as winning Sir Huggers Kittyman…
Imagine a 6’5″ beautiful blonde woman comes to your carnival game. She listens attentively while you explain the rules.
Then tongue tip poking from the corner of her mouth, she throws one baseball (like a girl). It not only knocks the three milk bottles off the pedestal, it bounces off the back wall and knocks three more down. While you’re picking your jaw up off the ground, she’s bouncing around, squealing and laughing with delight.
Even the hardest carny heart would melt at the sight of Stephanie’s happiness. You proudly present her with the biggest prize you’ve got (hey, it’ll be great advertising). Suddenly you’re spinning in the air in a great big hug.
Her hair smells of fresh apples and sunshine.
Her memory chest is very well organized. I imagine it has lovely wooden trays that stack together.
By the way, notice the note over Sir Leopold’s medal? The little heart? Somebody’s got a crush.
