Uh-oh. Edison with a glass of gin? And what is Robie doing? And how will they ever explain him to everyone? How will they cover this with Eleanor, assuming she puts some clothes on and comes out? Poor Stephanie. This might be more than the poor girl can handle. Will Larry be able to fix everything?
Yes no maybe we’ll see is all I can say at the moment. Stay tuned!
Okay, traumic may not be a word, but it fit really well.
Where does one begin? There is so much in need of comment here.
I’m not too worried about the need to explain our hexapodalian friend; Sampson Enterprises and its labs have been around long enough that none of Eleanor’s guests should be (or at least should not admit to being) surprised.
I am a bit worried about the gin. ‘Torn’ would be more honest that ‘worried’ but that’s MY backstory….
And Larry’s orgy shirt is the only apparel that could possibly outshine Stephanie’s flying-carpet-stewardess outfit.
Watch what you say about that outfit, buster. That’s a Sir Leopold Gryphon, Royal Plumber of Elysium original.
Larry’s shirt is an example of me stepping away from solid blacks and whites and adding patterns where I can. I hope the gray tones don’t clash too much with the regular pen and ink.
And ya gotta admit-he does look pretty snazzy. That was Edison’s doing. Compare that to what he wore to Eleanor’s last party.
I get what you mean about ‘torn’ instead of ‘worried.’ I feel something similar. On the one hand, we don’t want to see Edison hurt herself or her friends. On the other hand, this is who she is (but doesn’t necessarily have to be). We’ll see how it plays out. These folks never fail to surprise me.
As far as ‘splaining the Li’l Stinker to the general populace, well, we can leave it up to these Great Deceivers. They’re good at what they do.
To be clear: I think that shirt is PERFECT. For Larry.
And its gray tones really do add color to a black-and-white drawing. I may need to ask my ophthalmologist about how that works.
But perhaps the most powerful graphic element of this strip is the white space between Larry and Edison in the fourth panel…..
…which I left without background noises for just such an effect.
I agree about the gray tones. Maybe it could be the first baby step towards color. Ah, to dream…
i’m pretty sure that Stephanie can “handle” any situation, especially if mayhem is permitted….
As far as the gin-and-tea-on-the-rocks goes, Edison may not be holding it long–especially if Stephanie resorts to mayhem. ^^
I see that Larry is a devotee of “Flower Power”, and I just LOVE Robie’s origin callback. <3
This is a prime example of Groovy, Kinda literary magic. 🙂
Stephanie could handle the situation if she could step back and think clearly. Unfortunately, this is Robespierre surrounded by people and food.
She could resort to some Stephanie inspired mayhem on Edison if she wasn’t otherwise distracted. We’ll see if Edison’s fast enough, and what Stephanie does if Edison does decide to step off the wagon.
I knew you’d get that reference, Uncle Delta! Would you like to share it with the rest of the class, or shall I?
I’ll give it a shot:
First appearance: ODD MAN OUT, near the bottom of Panel 1.
Second appearance: HATS OFF TO LARRY, in a wastebasket near the bottom of Panel 4.
First featured page: OH YOU SQUID.
The rest is history. ^^
Only Larry would show up for an orgy dressed with a flower shirt… How come Robbie is making a mess? Everybody should love the ‘lil critter!
Oh, Robie wasn’t trying to make a mess. He just wanted something to eat and to make some new friends-you know, all the stuff you do at a party. It’s everyone else who’s making the mess. Of course, the Li’l Stinker’ll get the blame. Some people.
