You’re safe for the moment, Larry, but you’d better notice something very soon, or someone might get hurt.
So, we’re almost finished with our Historic Never Before Webcomic Event.
What Historic Never Before Webcomic Event, you ask? Well, I’m glad you asked.
As Hjels figured out (smart boy, that one), we’ve just taken a character (Simon) from one webcomic and made him a character in another! As far as we (Hipopotamo and I and melaredblu) this has never been successfully attempted before. That’s right, you’re a Witness to History.
Simon has already appeared in an M9 Girls strip, and, very soon, you’ll see what happened when he appeared in their world.
In the meantime, there’s something different about Edison. What, and why, will be explained in our next exciting episode!
The comic isn’t showing up…
Okay, here’s what happened:
I spent an hour lettering the comic. I saved it about 10 times, because I use the GIMP, and the GIMP has some random sabotage features built in.
So, I cut the lettered comic up and post it to Tapastic, as I always do. Then I post it here.
Guess what? The GIMP erased all the saves from the last three panels. I had to go back and reletter the comic. Then, when I tried to upload the comic on WordPress, it wouldn’t show the version with lettering. It only showed the old version, which no longer existed.
Thanks to Hipopotamo-who is a lot smarter and more level-headed than I-for catching it and figuring out what was wrong.
So, the comic wasn’t there while I tried to figure out what was wrong. But it’s there now.
For the moment, anyway.
Thanks to Hipopotamo for the repair! I need my GK fix! 🙂
It’s showing now for me…
Dark Haired Edison.
Hold the Phone.
I’ve been wondering if her natural color was going to grow back out — guess she didn’t want to wait for it.
OH man, I can’t believe I am a witness to such a historic webcomic event! Simon is a great addition to M9 Girls, but I will miss him in the Groovy,Kinda universe. I hope he finds happiness with Pato and can love again. It’s hard to move on from that kind of thing.
Edison has dark hair again! It’s looking great!
Dark hair is good. Light hair is good. I think it’s maybe a little too short right now, but it’ll grow back out, right?
Not the first time, sorry to report. Some webcomic* that had done a crossover with Something*Positive decided to stop publishing, and the artist allowed one of her characters to permanently transition over to S*P (although S*P has such a large cast that I think it’s been years since we actually saw that character).
However, yours may well be the first occurrence of it happening between two active webcomics, so still historic!
__________
* Sorry I can’t remember the name of the other webcomic, but it was one I hadn’t read or heard of before this happened.
Okay, did some googling, the other comic was Queen of Wands, and the character who transferred to S*P was named Kestrel.
Dang! Missed it by this much…
Oh well, we’re the second pair of comics then. At least we can lay claim to being the handsomest pair of creators to attempt such an undertaking (okay, well, Hipopotamo can).
Thank you, Storel, for setting the record straight. And thank you for your research! As someone who does reference work in my library, I appreciate it.
This is why I tell everyone that Groovy, Kinda commenters are the best (and handsomest) on the Internet.
Now I have to go check out these comics!
S*P has done this several times with Queen of Wands and Penny And Aggie right off the top of my head, and I think Megaplex the exchange went both ways. And at the time Megaplex was actively updating.
Oh brother. Is my face red.
Reminder to me: In the future, do not announce historic webcomic event without doing more research.
Thanks, Opus the Poet!
I did call it, didn’t I? It is an awesome move by the way. Can’t wait to see what Simon gets up to over there. Oh, and Edison looks smashing with her new hair by the way. Larry should tell her. Pronto-like.
Well, Edison’s hair regained it’s original color. Eleanor will be interested.
Hjels is right. Larry better mention it SOON.
BTW, I am working on the TOS Galactica and Movie Seaview. Pic’s later.
Can’t wait to see them!
I just saw it! Watch out Robie. Looks good.
