Uh-oh. Reade’s just gotten her hands on one of the Holy Grails of books, The Necronomiclown, by the Mad Arab Abdul Alahabozorad. This could have far reaching consequences in the Groovyverse, but not for the people you think it will. Ah, you’ll see.
And can you guess who today’s Dick Tracy character is?
Coming up next, Eleanor offers her “alleviation” for Edison’s withdrawal pangs. Will Edison take it? Does Eleanor have something else in mind? I wonder…
Looks like one of the Moon People.
Right as always, Opus the Poet!
Well, sort of. The current Mysta has an interesting history. I’ll tell more soon.
And the character on the book she’s reading also looks familiar but I can’t quite place it.
That’s the mighty Shada the Panda! Mike Curtis, who writes “Dick Tracy,” just finished his 50 issue run of Shanda. Back in the day I illustrated a few Shanda stories. I’ll put up a page or two sometime.
That book is evil. I’ve heard its cover is the sewn-together skin of a dozen slaughtered balloon animals.
For god’s sake, man, don’t ever tell Stephanie.
My first thought is “Who is the seller and what is her motive?” Perhaps just a need for cash — her jacket has a patched elbow. And she avoids the question of how she came into possession of the book. If the book is truly rare, perhaps unique, Reade needs to determine the provenance before she offers it for sale to anyone else, or risk dealing in stolen property. And why does the seller appear to be wearing white gloves and a 1930s style bucket hat? Personal style choice, or indication of time travel? So many answers to look forward to!
Reade will definitely be making some phone calls on this one. She’ll determine if she’s not in possession of stolen property.
After that, well, who knows?
And we may never find out who this mysterious bookseller is. On the other hand, you never know who’ll return in the Groovyverse.
At least she’s smart enough not to try any of the rituals…
It’s like David Carradine showing up in Evil Toons, but more believable!
He-hee!
Hi Grace!
Not sure if Necronomiclown is less or more horrifying on an all encompassing existential than its Lovecraftian inspiration, but the seller is probably a better person than Lovecraft himself
Well, it definitely has more greasepaint and rubber noses.
Related joke is the Necronomnomnomicon by C. Monster
Me love Eldrich Horror!
*snerk!*
Groovy!
Kinda..?
Is Reade pregnant, or is she just drawn that way?
Reade’s trans, so pregnancy’s not an option. She’s just leaning back, so her tummy’s out.
Though she may have put on a little “happy fat” since dating Nelson.
Lyssa, however, is preggers with Baby Sarah, her li’l pirate.
I knew she was trans; in the Groovyverse, though, anything is possible.
You’re absolutely right!
And you might be righter in some ways later than you think now.
If that makes any sense.
