Hmmm…Nelson vs. Reade Turner. She who does not suffer fools gladly. Perhaps she’ll make an exception for our hero. Ah, we’ll see…
And what side dish will Larry bring? I’m thinking baked beans. And for dessert? Well, I think we all know what that’ll be.
A Tesla Coil , a Monocle and Magical gestures…………….Charlie you are my hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her right hand is doing the Steve Ditko “Dr. Strange” hand gesture.
I’m such a nerd sometimes.
It totally is! I’m ashamed for not picking it up myself. Love it.
That last panel DOES look great – as expected from the rough, Charlie.
The mountains in the distance give such a sense of place. I’ve resided only on the eastern shore plains and sand bars so the only things looming in the distance were skyscrapers or tank farms. The few times I’ve been in mountainous areas have been both alien and thrilling and that panel made those feelings return in a rush.
Ever since moving to the Pacific Northwest from Michigan, I’ve fallen in love with mountains. I feel so exposed when I can’t look out and see them anywhere.
As (ahem) biased as this might seem, I always get a kick out of the books in that window.
I would just love to see the entire cast of GK stuck together at a dinner party. There are so many comedic possibilities in that scenario.
And that’s the same “Bitter Rabbit” concert poster that was in that window last time. Someday the GK band, “Nucleaire Romantiques” is going to open for “Bitter Rabbit.” And I’ll call on you for the character design. And Phil from DadRockGirlPop for the instruments.
I don’t know if you can see it, but there’s a copy of the novel “I, Mummy,” in the window. You can read the amazing comic by clicking on the new link just up there to your right. Imagine an adventure story set in a Victorian impression of the future, all done to look like real comic book pages. It’s amazing.
As far as the dinner party goes, well, you may see most of the original cast assembled for the first time in many years soon. But we have another story to tell before we get there…
Yep, I Mummy is great. Thanks for the tip–I get a lot of good leads from your links. 🙂
Ternferdawurst………whatta pun.
I knew you’d be the first person to get that. I just wondered when.
Do you have a copy of “Wallace Tripp’s Wurst Seller”? The deli countrr on the cover has more bad wurst puns than you can shake a weiner at.
Oh gosh, you know what? I think I still do have a copy of that somewhere. I love Wallace Tripp! I haven’t thought about him in a long time.
My favorite book of his is: “A Great Big Ugly Man Came Up and Tied His Horse To Me: A Book of Nonsense Verse.”
What a great illustrator.
Hehe – thanks for the “I, Mummy” Easter egg! Groovy was one of the first comics I read on Tapastic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I learned about Webcomic Underdogs from your comments there.
You’re welcome! She’ll show up in a cameo sometime too.
Man, I’m glad you discovered Groovy, Kinda on Tapastic. And I’m really glad you’re an Underdog! One of us!
Gabba gabba, one of us…
Lovely perspective. I remember my perspectives from when I was a student. Loving the book cameos!
Thanks, hippo! I love perspective. It’s very easy, once you practice it a bit, and it looks quite nice.
I knew I wanted to feature “I, Mummy, since I’ve been enjoying it so much lately. But when I went to ink, I didn’t have the other two books. So I made up “Stik” and made the other one one of Ms Dubbleman’s poetry books.
You were stressin’ over that last panel for nothing! It looks fantastic! I’m always so envious of how clean and controlled your inking is, especially in the cross hatching. Beautiful work!
I would hope for chocolate cake for desert, but I think there’s something much better in store…oh dear.
Thanks, mj. I was going to put some sweet, sweet, under the awning shadows, but I didn’t want to take the focus away from Nelson or the bookstore.
And the inking looks clean because the picture is so small. If you saw it in real life, well…
Chocolate cake is good. But with Eleanor and Stephanie (and Robespierre) involved, it’ll probably be this.
Make my dessert: Chocolate Cheese Cake w/Strawberries and whipped cream. YUMMY!!!!!!
real live: just looking at it makes my sugar jump. So it’s: Sugar Free Banana Pudding. SIGH.
That’s the beauty of comics-we can make stuff that we could never enjoy in real life. Like the Puddin’ Shack’s “Gallon O’Gravy.”
All Right!!!!
