I think the proper response is, “Leave them alone and they’ll come home. In the meantime…”
Sorry, but no they won’t.
I used to live in a “Rural” area, sheep are stupid, smelly, vermin riddled lumps of trouble. I’ve helped “rescue” one stuck in a hollow, which promptly waddled itself into a another mudpuddle getting stuck once again.
To quote a farmer friend “A sheeps only purpose in life is to find the most ackward place it can to lie down and die.”
Not even keen on them as meat.
Ooops a bit of bias showing there.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away-well, college in Upper Michigan-I had a teacher who sold my roomates and I a sheep. We went to his farm, he shot the sheep, and we helped skin, clean and section it. We were four poor college students, but we ate well that Winter, I can tell you. Plus, I got firsthand experience in preparing animals for the pot, a skill that came in handy later when the chickens got old.
You know, Shepherdess Edison is a lot more pleasant to look at than Naked Neanderthal Toivo.
But not quite as cute as Shepherdess Toivo.
I was half-expecting a Space Cyborg Surfer-girl outfit instead, but this one is probably better from a storytelling standpoint. It has more continuity.
Sleep deprivation usually just screws up the parts of my brain in charge of communication and speaking coherently. Well, also lowers my inhibitions once I drink several cups of tea. And makes me think I’m in a kung-fu movie.
I sheepishly admit that I hadn’t thought of it until after I’d drawn the strip. I wanted to mirror the time Toivo showed up in his shepherdess costume.
Besides, we’ve seen Edison in something similar to that particular fantasy.
