Um, Larry? Even if Robespierre heard them, he still couldn’t tell you.
And Stephanie love secrets. She’ll never tell. Of course, Edison doesn’t know that.
Anyway, looks like maybe their troubles are over for now. Maybe. For now.
Meanwhile, someone else is brewing up some trouble, and recruiting another cook to help. You’ll soon see!
I had another title for this comic, but really, a song title like Stephanie Knows Who, from one of my favorite bands, Love, who made Forever Changes, one of (if not) the greatest rock ‘n roll album of all time, was too perfect.
I was expecting to not be able to find it, but YTM pulled it up in miliseconds, in 2 versions stereo LP and Mono single.
Nice! I assume you’re talking about “Stephanie Knows Who,” not Forever Changes. I have Da Capo and the excellent Rhino Records compilation Love Story. But I don’t think I have it on mono.
How is it? And how are you, my friend? Good to hear from you!
Are they playing blackjack? ‘Cause Edison is BUSTED.
NEVER bet against Stephanie.
Eleanor may always win, but in a game of chance she doesn’t stand one.
Not what I was expecting. I didn’t spew coffee, but I did do a sort of involuntary stink-eye. I had no idea Stephanie could be sly. No one did. She probably doesn’t even know she did it.
She probably doesn’t know. Though as I mentioned in another comment, she may have decided that this is a better approach than saying: “If you aren’t sober when Larry proposes, I’ll tell him all about Rad Sampson.”
Stephanie has a lot riding on this. She wants to marry Edison, and she wants Larry to marry them both. She doesn’t seem to realize that he could propose to Stephanie without Edison.
But she wouldn’t like that, of course.
Steph. I did not know you had that in you. Honestly, I am super impressed. This opens the door to so many hilarious possibilities.
Oh yeah. Edison’s gonna have to watch her step and weigh the consequences of her actions a lot more now.
I mean, more than barely paying attention to them like she has been.
You’ll notice that Stephanie hasn’t said anything like this before. It’s possible she knows more about these two than they know. She just doesn’t feel the need to bring it up.
There’s nothing like a good hard slap in the face by reality to refocus the conversation. ^^
People–including us readers–tend to forget that Stephanie isn’t human in the fleshy sense of the word, and can analyze substances on the fly. After all, it’s why she smokes. 🙂
Yep. And she probably learned to do it discreetly after she blew up that chem lab.
Edison sorely needed a wake-up call and attitude adjustment.
Is it possible that Stephanie thought she could’ve used her knowledge to blackmail Edison into behaving, and just chose to go this route?
No, Stephanie is far more straightforward than that, and is charmingly hazy about jealousy, I think she was offering a solution that she thought would make everyone happy, and which made sense to her. 🙂
You’re right, as usual, Uncle Delta. Stephanie wants to offer a compromise-one that harkens back to Edison’s letting Larry frolic with Anya. If it worked once…
She may not be as straightforward as she was then. Stephanie’s learning a lot from living with humans.
I think Stephanie’s next move should be to tell Edison that the traces of turpentine and linseed oil that used to linger about her are, sadly, fading. I want Edison back in front of a canvas with a paintbrush in her fist!
Funny you should mention that, Pops. Edison could only afford her apartment and liquor with payments from her hubby Philo. Well, now she’s single, she’s gonna have to make some money if she wants to keep the place.
Sure, Larry would gladly pay the rent, but she wants to do it on her own. So she may be picking up a paintbrush in the near future.
Pops has a point. But maybe, if Edison hits the bottle again and/or throws a tantrum, she might end up competing with Jackson Pollock and make a fortune!
Imitating Jackson Pollock (or Mark Rothko) would be the easy way, but what would Larry say?
I think it says something about Edison that she doesn’t go that route. She’s actually working at making real pictures.
Of course, she knows what will sell…
Oh Steph, so deceptively naive, but now she has Edison in check.
