Isn’t that nice of Eleanor? The kids get a chance to have a great vacation and get away from the adults. And the adults get a chance to go a little runamucca themselves.
Gosh, that Eleanor. Always doing something nice for someone else without a thought for herself. Ain’t she a peach?
It sure looks like Reade made quite the impression on her. Are the feelings mutual? Ah, we’ll see…
All our bespectacled ladies are gathered together at the most popular shack in town! I wonder what flavor they each prefer.
Have I mentioned lately how much I like Reade’s character design? She’s wonderfully distinctive and I really like the way that final panel shows off her elongated facial structure.
Eleanor would be chocolate pistachio swirl, Reade would like chocolate with butterscotch, and Anya…strawberry vanilla banana.
Reade is my favorite character to draw.
I think it’s because she has such exaggerated features. It seems like the more cartoony the character, the easier they are to portray. Larry and Anya are the second easiest, with Edison and Stephanie the most difficult.
Whatever the reason, Reade always comes out with these wonderful expressions.
Don’t forget her overbite…
…which was a last minute addition. But gosh, how it’s helped with her expressions!
Reade’s face! She looks like she’s just seen the Tiger smiling at her!
However, I get the feeling that Ms Turner is no pushover and might just be capable of giving Eleanor a run for her money!
Which is one big reason why Eleanor’s interested.
I still vote that Eleanor’s reassessing includes giving up/giving back Jacob and sis.
We shall see what we shall see.
But if they do, having the kids be away for two weeks will certainly help in the breakup.
Perhaps they could ask that big dogwalking Space Marine in the first panel…
Wait, is that Tenzin and Jane? I got a cameo? 😀
He Tenzin; she Jane.
You got a cameo and a dog!
For those of you wondering what’s going on, that big lug is Tenzin, star of the very cool Full Color, Post Apocalyptic, Singularity Science Fiction comic The Demon Archives, and Jane is the sensible AI that he occasionally listens to.
It’s a very good read, and I think you’ll like it.
Hmmm. Reade does have a weak spot – and that’s her kids. But that’s also something she’d take a stand for, if it came down to it. At least, that’s what I’ve gotten from her so far. Eleanor may think of herself as an irresistible force, but she can stumble over her own misjudgements.
And I adore the name “Camp Runamucca.” That’s priceless! 😀 When I was 11 I got to go to a summer camp for 4 weeks, with horses, canoes, horses, hay rides and horses. I was in heaven.
Glad you liked it!
I have fond memories of week-long Boy Scout summer camps too. Horses, canoes, camping, rifles, hiking, cleaning out the horse barn…
Uh-oh. Two strong personalities find eachother face to face, and I belive one of them just blinked. Eleanor is just a force of nature.
Yes. Sometimes she’s like a wildfire, sweeping everything before her in a firestorm of passion.
And sometimes she’s like the drip, drip, drip of water in a cave, slowly forming stalactites that suddenly drop on unsuspecting passersby.
When Eleanor uses the term “humble” I feel my hackles rise.
I think Eleanor believes that Jacob’s presence in Anya’s life gives Anya some backbone and strength of will. So what better plan than sending all the kids away so there are no “distractions”?
And there’s two esses at the end of “reassess”. Otherwise you have “re-asses”…which could also work…
Yoiks! I’ll fix that right away. Thanks for catching that and letting me know!
There’s this new thing called “sleep” that’s supposed to make your brain work gooder…
