Welcome back! For those of us in America, it’s Memorial Day. Most everyone has the day off here, though I’m working one of my jobs, in a bookstore, so it’s more fun than anything.
And yes, there’s a cameo from two of my favorite webcomics. If you haven’t read all the strips, this one references back to TEA WRECKS, from back in March. My goodness, how the art has changed…
Tomorrow, it’s off to Sampson Enterprises, as Larry and Stephanie start their work week. And, Larry finds out about Stephanie’s smoking and her plans for Edison.Plus, lunch on the roof, scented ashtrays, and a chicken. Good times.
Judging by the way his dialogue is written, is Toivo supposed to be Canadian?
Not that I buy into those stereotypes myself, but sticking “eh” on the end of every other sentence is typical American portrayal of Canadians.
It’s also something Yoopers (Upper Peninsula of Michigan, or U.P., or Yooper) do a lot, eh? That’s where Toivo is from originally.
Toivo is, if I recall, a Finnish Neanderthal. Not sure how that works, but it’s patently not OUR version of Earth – so it’s fine. 😀
Charlie, on that note I want to add that Toivo is a marvelous work of Art every single time he appears. This … helmet … thingie … (begins to giggle) … “What’re YOU lookin’ at?” … oh, gawds…
I can’t tell you how much fun it was to draw him in that helmet.
Toivo is so insane, that I grin like a fool almost every time I draw him.
And yes, he’s from Finnish extract. The U.P. is thick with them. Wonderful people, the Finns.
