And what an if it is.
So, is she telling the truth? Will we, and the gang, ever know for sure?
So many questions. We’ll answer another one very soon. Stay tuned!

ANYA!
‘Nuff Said!
Eleanor doth speak a TRUTH.
As far as I know, Eleanor has not betrayed any of her friends. Enemy’s – yes, people she does not like also but not her friends.
This can’t be easy news for anybody to hear. Even if Eleanor has her ways, it’s nice to see that some many people can rally together for her. She’s going to need them all in the coming months.
But this is Eleanor… So one suspects a catch somewhere. What perhaps will she now demand from friendship?
I love that everyone has added the “if this is true” in one form or another to their condolences…
And that it didn’t faze Eleanor one bit.
Yes!
Starting with Larry, when we all first found out about it.
Methinks she loves her reputation. She earned it!
And every last one of them (possibly excepting Reade) is hoping that she IS hatching some kind of plot.
Eleanor has never been one to let commonly accepted deportment stand in her way–as those who know her best just attested.
Try though I might, I just can’t think of a more hilarious way of making that point than the one you used–I bow to the master. 🙂
And the look on Anya’s face as someone (presumably Eleanor) presses a handkerchief to her face is even funnier. 😀
Thank you. This strip just wrote itself.
I knew I had to do everyone’s reaction to the news. As soon as I thumbnailed Toivo saying: “If you really are sick,” it all fell into place.
She’s ruthless and manipulating. Everyone knows it and she’s fine with it.
I can respect that.
Eleanor would understand and approve.
I pretty much reflect Reade’s attitude. I mean, I really despise Eleanor, but I don’t hate her enough to want her to just die. It’s really sweet, though, the way all these characters are showing genuine sympathy despite their skepticism.
Yup, their attitudes are completely justified. But they’re open about it, and they still offer their comfort. This is really the only way it could go. Love it.
Exactly. The important thing isn’t how she’s treated them in the past, or if she’s lying now. The important thing is that a member of their family is in trouble.
