I know a lot of you don’t like Anya Langerak, and I can understand that.
But she does a very difficult job and she does it very well.
This one is for all the current and former Children’s Librarians. Storytimes are a lot of fun, but they can be hard to do well.
Monday-Edison and Stephanie discuss…lots of things. You’ll see.
Have a great weekend!
I admit it – love your work. I must ’cause I registered to comment. You do wonderful characters and artwork, great dialog, interesting cultural references. I look forward to every update. Keep it up!
Why, thank you! I’m glad you like the comic, and welcome!
Stuff like this is why I adore Anya! She looks like the most fun storyteller ever! 😀
This is one storytime I definitely want to be a part of!
My mom, who passed last August, was story lady at the local library for a long time and was also a pre-school teacher. Lots of young people in our town know her from both places. I love story ladies.
and I want to read the Two Pirate Monkeys book!
I can’t wait to see Hogbo. The Princess and the Cowgirl looks like it would be fun too!
Hogbo and the Great Green Thing was a story my sister did in college for a class, and she had me illustrate it. I still have it, so I may scan a picture or two to share.
The Children’s Librarian at the library I work in is famous for her storytimes. She’s been doing them for years, and they’ve grown and grown. I think some of her original kids are bringing their offspring.
She asked me to do a couple of storytimes, and it was a blast.
And now there’s another children’s book I have to do (in addition to redrawing Hogbo and the Great Green Thing)!
Who doesn’t like Anya?
Anya is awesome.
Of course, all of your characters are awesome.
AND your art style is superb.
Thanks for letting us enjoy this great comic on the web.
Thank you. I love Anya too. She can be irritating and exasperating at times (who can’t?), but she’s a good person.
And thank you for the compliment on the art. It can get really frustrating at times, but in the end it’s worth it. I’m glad you like it.
Not liking Anya is not a bad thing. While there are no villains per-se in G,K at this point, the fact that a character’s portrayal has evoked an emotional reaction is really a testament to Charlie. We can discuss all the ways that Anya has done Edison wrong recently, but I am still interested in Anya as a character.
Indiscriminate praise for all and sundry is no praise at all, for it doesn’t distinguish the good from the great, let alone from the poor. It is not informative nor useful in any way. It is the manipulative way of the shameless sycophant.
Well I registered as well to comment.
Charlie you know how to draw believable people and you have created believable characters in a believable situation. Which is why I keep returning to this story.
I’m probably a hopeless old romantic but there is something positive and completely appealing about the Larry / Edison relationship.
Hope for the world yet.
Why, thank you!
That’s about the biggest compliment you can give-that the characters are believable. I really appreciate that.
Sometimes it’s easy-I just draw what they’re doing anyway. And sometimes it takes a while to figure out what they’re going to do. Even though I think I know them inside and out, they always manage to surprise me.
And thank you for the kind words on the art. That part really isn’t easy for me! Oftentimes it can get really discouraging, and your comments help a lot. I’m not fishing for compliments; I just want to say that you really make a difference.
Plus, Dragonsreach, you have a very cool website.
Charlie; Thank you very much.
My website is in need of some updates (Ok lots of updates) I just keep getting sidetracked by a certain Groovy Webcomic.
You know I’m going to have to link to your webcomic now.
Now that there is a consummate professional. The show must go on.
And dare I say, that’s some solidly done tartan.
