Props for Edison for picking up what Larry didn’t know he was laying down. She loves him, and knows him better than he realizes.
Has she guessed what’s bothering him? She’ll find out soon enough.
And where exactly is Eleanor while all this is happening? You’ll find that out soon enough.
Also, this is the first time I’ve posted on my phone from a moving train!
UPDATE: Unfortnately, my computer crashed yesterday, so no comic this week.
Sorry for missing the post. Since I’ll be gone, next week’s not looking great either.
Spoiler: It’s actually important.
Gotta say, it’s not every day you see the man in the relationship pulling the ol’ “everything’s fine,” but honestly I don’t blame him. I’d need a moment to process what I just overheard before I felt ready to discuss it too, it I were in his shoes.
Edison kiiiinda deserves to be left to stew for a bit, anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I want to see them work things out, but thinking she could just keep it a secret and escape any consequences wasn’t really a proud moment for her. I’d be willing to bet it hurts Larry all the more knowing that she was never going to fess up, and if she does care about earning his trust, she’s going to need to work a lot harder for it now.
A lot harder than she might think. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I really like the crosshatched aureola around Edison in the last panel. It looks good on its own and it works well to emphasize her standing there all alone.
There isn’t any context to tell us where this is or how long after the overheard conversation with Rad. Or why Larry is fixing Edison’s tie. But long enough, apparently, for Larry to decide what to do next.
It’s shortly after Larry learned the truth. Like, Edison probably came out with a respectable shirt and tie and asked him to help her put it on.
I’m glad you liked that background. I’ve been experimenting with stuff like that.
Or, with my memory, discovering stuff I’ve done before and didn’t remember.
I’ve been trying to interpret Edison’s expression in panel 5″
A. Shock that Larry has (or hs access to) an actual spine.
B. Worry that Anya has wormed her way closer to Larry.
C. Fear that Eleanor has done something.
D Concern that Larry is keeping secrets.
E. Surprise that Larry is telling her to do something without being deferential about it.
Notice that no time does she suspect that Larry knows the truth because she is far too clever for that to have happened….
Mostly E, though I was also going for a “Wait, does he suspect the truth?” look. She knows she’s skating on thin ice here, and it’s no time for over-confidence. She’s in a building with her boyfriend, the man she cheated on him with (well, one of them, anyway), and the woman who knows all about it and wants her relationship destroyed. So there’s a bit of C going on as well.
Wait, you think Edison thinks Larry is spineless? Does he come across that way?
