Happy Monday! Today’s the day we in America celebrate Veteran’s Day, since we like to take Mondays off.
It’s nice to be back. Wednesday, Stephanie and Larry stop by Eleanor’s, where something unprecedented happens. If you want to know more about Eleanor, click on “The Comic!” to read an older comic starring most of the Groovy, Kinda cast.
R and Thomas! EEEEEE!!!
Um… last frame: Are those blood splatters?
That’s a very popular park, apparently. You never know who you’ll see on a nice day.
Blood splatters? Eleanor? I can neither confirm nor deny, ma’am.
She DID mention maple syrup…..<3
Looks more like grape jelly to me.
Silly-that was Edison and Anya with the maple syrup. This is Eleanor, whom we haven’t seen since the first strip.
Though Anya was her love slave for a time, so there is that connection.
Oh, right, sorry – I have trouble keeping up with all the ravishing without a scorecard (and you don’t need a scorecard, ’cause everybody wins!)
I like your attitude, chum!
I read “Utopia Unlimited” quite a while back. I just discovered “Groovy, Kinda” a few of days ago, and I’ve ordered a cheap reading copy of “Lyssa and the star pirates”. Hopefully after Christmas, I can order a signed copy from you!
So I dug up Utopia again. In the process I discovered that Matt Howarth did the INKS on some of the 2nd XXXenophile collection. (A fact that had escaped me, since I sometimes pay too much attention to the writer/lead artists on a project 🙁 and not enough to the talented individuals who also contribute)
I hope you won’t be offended if I say that your art style reminds me very much of Matt’s. My girlfriend pointed out that the people Matt draws are often very angular, whereas yours are very rounded and softer looking. But, the thickness of outlines and the fine crosshatch and linear shading you both use are very similar in my eye. AND very pleasing.
Keep up the Excellent Work. Thanks
and I’ve ordered a copy of Lyssa and the star pirates.
Oh don’t worry-all the copies are signed for free! Thanks for ordering one!
Ah, I knew my “Utopia Unlimited” past would catch up someday. Actually, I’m very proud of those two books. I even made a third one, but it’s never been published (yet).
Was that the XXXenophile collection, or the XXXenophile Presents? Phil had almost everyone in the business ink his stories. That was one of the cool things about it (besides the stories)-seeing who inked each one!
I will say that I inked all my stuff in Utopia and Lyssa.
I’m flattered to be compared to Matt! He and I were both published by Aeon/MU way back when, though we never met.
And thanks for reading!
Ahhhh, I feel so bad for having missed this page on its update day! I’ve barely been on the internet for the past several days because of work. But I’ve decided that I’m not going to draw ATBL anymore – instead I’m going to force you do to it, Charlie, because I love the way you draw those guys. So do it! Draw my comic for me you dirty jackal!
Yes! Oh yes! I’m a worthless, naughty, dirty little…waaait a minute.
I don’t have time to draw my comic, much less yours! Besides, I really like your art. How about if you pencil it, send it to me (we’re right across the Puget Sound from each other), and I’ll ink it and send it back.
I’m fairly certain you would not want to ink my ATBL pencils after you saw them. Hell, even I don’t want to ink those things, lol….
