What’s even more disturbing is that Toivo is considered, in the Neanderthal community (of which Doody is a member) to be a very pretty figure indeed. The Jude Law of Neanderthals, if you will.
Uhhh… the existence of living, breathing, frolicking Neanderthals in your more-or-less modern era wasn’t explained in Eleanor’s comic, nor in this one. I have to assume that perhaps somewhere in Lyssa & The Pirates you drop a clue or two. ??
Ummm…not really. I introduced Toivo as a Neanderthal way back in my college newspaper. If I can find it, I’ll post the strip.
But I never really worked out how there were still Neanderthals in this world. I suppose many of them were living in the far North of Europe (an idea I got from Michael Chrichton’s Eaters of the Dead), and they emigrated to Upper Michigan to work in the copper mines.
Eh….that’s disturbing.
