They don’t call it “la petite mort” for nothing, Stephanie. Though I don’t think you have to worry.
Next time-We learn something new about Stephanie, Robespierre gets a new friend, and I get to do a cameo from a wonderful strip! Stay tuned!

Wasn’t La Petite Mort the name of a character in, um, one of those, er, ‘special’ comic books a few years back?
Oh, I daresay. When you mention “La Petite Mort,” I immediately thought of a certain French skunk…
“I sing to you wiz jungle love…”
I was actually thinking of XXXenophile #9, but the French skunk works, too.
By the by, the Wikipedia entry for XXXenophile mentions that two issues of XXXenophile Presents were done by a fellow named Charlie Wise. Unfortunately, the hotlink took me to the Wikipedia entry for a different Charlie Wise, this one a deceased CIA operative. At least I assume that’s a different Charlie Wise; it would be verrrrrry sneaky of someone to fake his own death and assume a new identity but not actually change his name.
I removed the link.
I got a mention in Wikipedia? Wowza! Thanks for that, Pops!
Yes, I did two issues of XXXenophile Presents: Utopia, Unlimited I & II. I once posted a link to a Russian scan of the first issue, and you can probably find it online somewhere. I really should post them to an “Adults Only” webcomic hosting site.
I’m really proud of those two issues. It’s some of my favorite writing. I made a third one, and really need to share it.
You’ve met some of the cast of Utopia, Unlimited. Captain Eleanor, commander of HMS Iolanthe, and her bodyguard, Space Victoria, plus the adorable Konot, and Four, his robot buddy.
Still think the Utopia Unlimited stories are some great writing.
I wouldn’t want to gamble with that crew but they might be fun to gambol with.
Still loving your art.
NO ONE does wood grain or hair as well as you do.
You put more in backgrounds than some artists do in characters.
Ah, Jim, it’s so good to hear from you again! Hope your 2020 isn’t too crazy, my friend.
I agree- I think Utopia, Unlimited II: Steel Venus Queen of Hearts is the best thing I’ve ever written (except for Lyssa and the Pirates, but, you know, that was my first child).
Gamble/gambol-I like it, and shall steal that in the future, with your permission.
Thank you for the compliment on my art. While I love my woodgrain, I just can’t seem to get hair right. It drives me crazy.
That’s partly why Edison’s hair has been white for so long.
I do love to put a lot in a background (especially the ones I can reuse). I just don’t get why some creators don’t spend more time and energy getting everything as right as right can be.
Delta-v gave me the best compliment when he said my pages aren’t drawn, they’re crafted.
‘View the body’ was great, but thanks for using the term ‘Gloriosky,’ which I haven’t heard in years and was a favorite of my mom’s – about the most scandalous exclamation she would use, in fact, generally speaking.
Hey Klem!
“Gloriosky” just seemed like something Reade would say. An excellent “mom word” as well.
Fun Fact: while looking up the spelling, I ran across an article on the newspaper comic “Little Annie Rooney.” Apparently, that was Annie’s exclamation of choice.
As a lover of older newspaper comics, I was surprised to learn about this long running (1927-1966) “Little Orphan Annie” knockoff. Never heard of it! Now I have to track down some collections…
Well, Stephanie’s fears seem to have been assuaged, so…good for her?
Those little lines under Larry’s eyes really sell it, by the way. Amazing how the smallest details can make such a difference.
Thanks! Yeah, just a line or two to show how tired he is.
I may have been inspired by a fantastic comic I’m currently bingeing: the creepy and heartfelt “As I Lie Awake.”*
