The rocket looks like a short V1. In high school, I was really into rockets and the V1 was the real thing. My rockets were powered with the CO2 cartridges used in seltzer bottles. Years later, when I was working on the STS (Space Shuttle), my stepson wanted to do a science project on rockets. Guess what? ‘The Next Generation’ stepped up.
I’d love to see the chemistry if Dilbert and Larry connect.
Sundays at Midnight I would put in my earplug and secretly tune my ‘Rocket Radio’ in to WNPS for ‘THE GOON SHOW’! Later came Bob and Ray, Stan Freberg, and Firesign Theater.
The British and ‘Screwball’ American film comedies led me to Peter Sellers, Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. Of course, there’s always “Hollywood’ animation of the 40’s and 50’s.
TeeVee provided Ernie Kovacs, Soupy Sales (“That’s right, FiretrucK”), Monty Python, and Saturday Night Live.
Now we have Charlie. ‘LGBT theater of the absurd’ on the web . . .
Goon Show, Stan Freiberg, Ernie Kovacs, Soupy Sales (who I watched when he was in Detroit), Monty Python, etc…
I’m very flattered. Those are some pretty heavy hitters…
I hadn’t thought about the Hugo, but you’re right! I was going for a Willy Ley kind of look.
And it started out to be a crystal radio set, but I felt it’d look better with tuuuubes….
misslegipsy,
sounds like you and i come from the same era, i once went to see the ernie kovacs show live in the studio. even funnier watching the “nairobi trio” in person.
He’s definitely has his mother’s looks.
Oooh! Oooh !I know who that is!
Also, what is he working on on that desk?
I don’t know what it is, but it has tuuubes. I can sense the warm glow emanating from those mysterious glass bubbles.
Could it be … the phone?
Oh wow, Charlie, this is a beautiful introduction.
I’ve been waiting for this . . .
I swear, Dilbert could be my clone.

More like a V-2. I love tuuuuuuuuuuuubes.
You are sooo right. The V1 was powered by a pulse-jet (loud and scary little beasts).
It’s actually an AM radio receiver. I built one as a kid and used it to tune into KAAY in Little Rock ARK and WULS in Chicago.

and yes the rocket looks like a v2, the v1 looked like a large model airplane with a stovepipe on its tail.
I am trying not to burst out into tears. (Damn you REO Speedwagon playing in the background.)
