Oh that Lyssa Strada. She’s a very smart woman. She knew this would get her the job.
I want to thank melaredblu for this strip. While we were collaborating on the crossover, I came up with the idea of Lyssa working for Reade. melaredblu liked the idea, and that was enough for me. When one of your favorite comic creators tells you to “Do it,” you’d be a bigger fool than me to not obey.
So, how is Eleanor going to take this? Ah, that’s for a later strip. Stick around. We’ve got some changes coming up that I think you’ll like.
And I want to thank you for sticking with Groovy, Kinda through all this. Thanks for being a member of the best group of commenters a creator could ever be blessed to have. You’re awesome.
Though Reade is probably a bit more antagonistic towards Eleanor than Lyssa, this team-up totally makes sense. And her going nuclear, I can see as well.
By the way, the art on these last few pages. Holy… So good.
Aw, thank you. I hope you liked the poster for “October 20th, the Groovy Hippie Musical.”
“Bitter Rabbit”? is that the Kiroshitsuji version, or a reference to a more appealing leporidae? 🙂
Oh, wait, no eyepatch. Never mind.
I hope Reade has room to put up Lyssa and Allen after Eleanor kicks them out. 🙂
Aren’t Lyssa and Allen already staying with Anya for just that reason? I seem to remember something tantalizing about “You just don’t SAY that to a pregnant woman!”
Eleanor has no business complaining about someone “stealing” Nelson, all things considered. First, she’s never really done more than (insert word here)-tease him and second, she did her level best to pull Allen into her orbit (unsuccessfully) though she’d excuse that by offering her standard routine about “looking out for her friends” and that she was “only testing him.” I might give that more credence if she hadn’t been so furious at having failed to tempt him away from Lyssa.
Yes, yes, Eleanor did kick them out.
Before morning coffee, ANY thing is possible, even hurt feelings, bones, legs, you get the idea.
Charlie, I like you and your fellow creators work.
Keep it Up!!! 🙂
Lyssa and Allen did spend the night at Anya’s, but they moved back a day or two later. Eleanor never apologized for the upsetting things she said, of course.
Eleanor and Nelson were lovers a long time ago (see “The Importance of Being Eleanor”), but have since become best friends.
And Lyssa is really courting disaster by giving Eleanor bad news before her morning coffee. She’ll only have herself to blame if something terrible happens.
Well, because Eleanor would never take responsibility, of course.
“Bitter Rabbit” is a band name in the Groovyverse. It’s shown up a few times. If “Nucleaire Romantiqes” ever re-forms, they may play a show with Bitter Rabbit.
It also sounds like a pretty good description of Sir Leopold on a bad (or any other) day. 🙂
I can hardly take credit for your brilliant ideas, Charlie. All I said was that is brilliant, and rightly so.
Also, that explosion shot is amazing. The best part is, we don’t know if it’s actually happening or if they’re simply imagining the same thing. Even better than that is the fact that when it comes to Eleanor, both possibilities are equally likely.
Well, when one of my favorite comic creators likes an idea, I’m more likely to run with it.
They’re imagining the explosion. There’s no window on that side of the bookstore. I suppose I could’ve made it a big thought balloon, but that didn’t occur to me until long after I posted the strip.
Re: Bottom panel, well there went the No Accident Record.
Doesn’t count against the record. That was deliberate. 🙂
To paraphrase an old radio saying: “Only The Charlie Knows”.
On the other hand, we can have fun Guessing.
Plus, if it did happen, it wasn’t a Sampson Enterprises incident. That would’ve been Eleanor’s home blowing up.
You know, that could be very possible.
ps. I posted some TusCon pics over at DA.
Lots to be said for common ground…
That’s a common ground among a lot of characters in this world…
