At least she didn’t introduce him to her “collection.”
Hey! We all know the Pirate Monkey Song!
And every one had a grand time and promised to eat their Brussels sprouts.
Also, a couple of cameos in today’s strip. Nate the Robot, from, well, Nate the Robot! And the lovely lass from Rabbitual Offender (Warning: this comic is for adults).
Thanks for reading, and stick around. It’s time to check in with some of the other crazy folk.
Nate the robot!
There aren’t many greater joys in life than giving a giggly baby a belly button zerbert. The middle panel is particularly nice, btw.
Andy P; absolutely, completely, positively 100% true.
Kinda proud to say I got the whole of my favourite Coffee Shop’s customers looking when I gave a “”Zerbert” (*) to a friend’s baby. Nothing better than a delighted Baby Giggleing Laugh.
(* Never heard it called that before, over here gets called ‘Blerting’)
A loud ‘blerting’ followed by a baby’s giggle can brighten up a whole room. People should do that in public more often.
Thank you! I agree about the zerbet-I never heard that term until I moved out here (and became a father). It might be a Northwest thing.
That third panel. You know how sometimes you have an image of how you want a panel to look, and you don’t know if you can pull it off? That’s what happened.
I thought: “What the heck-let’s see if we can do it.” And, surprisingly, it just happened. Those times are rare, and to be treasured.
Charlie, BRILLIANT
Mike: Thank you!
Love “Doggie!”…
Thank you. I wasn’t sure if the baby was old enough to say “doggie,” but the bit was too good to pass up.
Hey, if you can suspend your disbelief long enough to buy a real Green Demon at a library Storytime…
That’s terrifying. I mean adorable. Terridorable.
I think you’ve just described Caliban to a T.
Somebody is gotta pay for the years of therapy for that baby…
Unless I’m mistaken, the “scary thing” is not Caliban, it’s the baby…
The baby is the scary thing, and it’s coming right at him!
I think the baby’s parent might need therapy after panel 3, however…
Babies just love tummy kisses. Big Doggie! The kids just love story time.
BTW, I posted some other models that I have done on DA. I am building again.
scifiJoe, drop me a link please I’m a modeller/painter.

I did. Charlie, Babies have very little fear of the unknown. They however, have a very good sense of hunger, need of hugs and can ignore a badly loaded diaper until it reaches very, very, very (did I say very) toxic levels.
However, they have a +1000 Cuteness as a weapon of self defense or attack. I should know my nephews and nieces had it down pat.
Wow, Charlie. This is one of those pages you do sometimes that absolutely blow my socks off. My feet are cold now, I have no socks on them.
Composition, angles, movement. It’s so damn good, it’s humbling when you school the rest of us like this.
Oh man, and now you’re Sockless in Norway, too!
Sorry about that.
You’re making me blush, Hjels. It’s just perspective and luck, man. Plus, I think I got some extra inspiration from the sheer silliness of the strip.
You know how it is.
Caliban was in Lyssa and the Pirates, yes – but he has FLOWERED on these pages, Charlie. He is such a wonderful character! And you also nailed the happy baby giggle.
I just love the way Caliban is “hiding” behind the desk. That tail sure can give him trouble, huh?
Hasn’t he, though? I’ve been having a lot of fun with him.
He is, as melaredblu said, terradorable. Green Demons be very scary at times.
He’s always had a streak of silliness running through him, and it’s been a joy to bring that out. Especially in his interactions with Robespierre and Miffy.
And babies, of course.
Hi Charlie,
Just wanted to ring in and say how much I enjoy your work. The story is great, and your artwork is astoundingly excellent, a total treat for a detail freak like me. 🙂
Hey Mike!
Thank you! Welcome to the greatest bunch of commenters a comic creator could ever wish for.
I’m glad you’re liking it! I do kind of go overboard on the detail, but that’s part of the fun.
