Poor Stephanie. She just wanted to talk with her sister Space Victoria. Nobody realized how distractable the Victorias are.
Where will she go now?
So, it might be a while before the next comic. I’ve been really busy, and the creative juices are being used in learning Japanese and working almost 60 hours a week. Keep your fingers crossed, and I’ll get to it when I can. Thank you in advance for your patience and support! I really appreciate you!
Poor Stephanie, indeed. Dr. Pops prescribes pudding and kittens.
Excellent suggestion, Dr. Pops. Puddin’ and kittens are exactly what she needs. And something else…
First Toivo and Mancanilla, now Victoria and Victoria. What romantic entangĺement is nexi, an Eleanore three-way? 🙂
I think an Eleanor-Space Captain Eleanor, Dread Pirate Queen Eleanor, and “Soft Eleanor (as DPQ Eleanor refers to her) three-way would collapse the multi-verse into a suppermassive black hole. With glasses.
Well, Eleanor IS in love with Eleanor….
She was, at first. But Space Captain Eleanor is still an Eleanor, and our Eleanor can’t stand her anymore. She is best in small doses.
Figured it’s about time to check up on Charlie and make sure those 60 hour weeks haven’t landed you in the Home for Aged Cartoonists.
Fraid I’ve been an aged cartoonist for some time, Pops. The 60 hour weeks have been taking their toll.
However, I think I’ve made it through a writer’s block, and there should be a strip in a week or two.
I really need to get back in the game, because there’s something amazing coming up…
Yay! Most all the strips are amazing, so I’m always ready for another.
You and I must be about the same vintage. I tried checking into the Domicile for Decrepit Architects but it’s closed for remodeling. Again.
Yeah, we may be old, but we got to see the cool bands.
Sorry I’m taking so long to reply. It’s been mighty busy.
I did two strips, but they’re so bad they’ll never see print. Good news is, the practice led to one that should be up next week. I think you’ll like it.
And one of the coolest things about the intertubes is being able to listen to archive recordings of Grateful Dead shows I was actually at. Not many of them, but good times.
Trashing not-good-enough work hurts, but it’s got to be done sometimes. Were the false starts problems with plotting or dialogue or the art itself?
Oh, and I was in Michigan last week. Kalamazoo, not the UP, but a nice visit.
Speaking of concerts, I went in to this little CD store in Osaka on my first visit. Turns out it was all bootleg concert CDs. So I looked around, and wonder of wonders, Queen’s “News of the World” tour concert in Detroit’s Cobo Arena! As you say, good times.
I envy you-never saw the Dead.
The false starts stemmed from a couple reoccurring problems I have. Stephanie’s running off meant that I had to come up with a strip to explain what happened after. And I, for some reason, end up with a terrible Writer’s Block. It’s happened a number of times in GK. And it happened again.
Also, when I write a strip that, deep down inside, I know isn’t that good, I get Artist’s Block something fierce. I really try to write something that isn’t just two people standing around talking. That was kind of the case here.
I ended up mixing some from one of the strips, a little from another, and made it work. You’ll see very soon.
Kalamazoo? One of my sisters went to Western! A great place!
I was in Detroit last summer. Boy, did I get to the used bookstores…
Yeah, Stephanie certainly did seem to leave with purpose. Maybe running from, rather than to, but running. I think she and Lt. Strada could be good, if opposite, friends.
We were at Western for the 61st International Congress on Medieval Studies. My wife goes as a professional, I go as a dilettante. I got to carve a small woodblock a la Caxton’s illustrations of Chaucer!
That’s so awesome! Good for you!
Well, I drew a comic. If I can get my scanner to connect to my computer through the same place it used to, I’ll have a comic up someday.
