Well, that’s one way to get your point across. Sometimes Eleanor’s plans verge on the hairbrained.
We’ll see if it works next week, when Edison makes a decision. It may surprise you.
Coming up this Sunday-my Dick Tracy Minit Mystery starts in newspapers and here! If you don’t want to comment on the GoComics site, then please let me know what you think here.
I do hope you’re doing well during these crazy times. Let me and the gang know, please. You’re a wonderful group and I think it’d be nice if we could catch up and see how we’re doing.
Take care, and stay safe.
I’m a little confused by the second frame – am I seeing two Eleanors? Maybe I am missing a thought bubble. The last frame was “after dinner’ = will we ever know about Edison ‘before dinner’? Chris
I think the Eleanor on the left in Panel 2 (and the Eleanor on the right in Panel 3) are the ‘real’ Eleanor — wearing the white shirt and striped tie you see in Panels 1 and 4 — while the ‘other’ en deshabille Eleanor in Panel 2 is a future Eleanor being imagined by the ‘real’ Eleanor. Got it?
I am a little uncertain about the situation in the last panel. Edison is in a bathrobe, but Rad is (re-?)dressed. Probably he just arrived at her stateroom, but what may have already transpired is open to question. And interpretation. And reinterpretation. All of which plays right into the hands of our wily cartoonist. But that’s ok, he washes them frequently.
You are both right. That is Eleanor imagining Eleanor, and yes, I should’ve added thought bubbles.
We’re about to get a big influx of new readers courtesy of the upcoming Minit Mystery, and I need to make things clearer. They won’t be used to the Groovy way we do things here.
As for the comely and delectable Edison (as the commenters at Dick Tracy sometimes call her), she’s in her doorway in her bathrobe. This is before dinner. As to her situation, and whether or not she’s alone, well, all will be revealed in our next thrilling installment!
Mmm. Now that you mention it, a thought bubble would have been helpful. Not a full bubble, but at least a bubbly line between the two halves of each panel.
Welcome to all the new readers, whenever you arrive, through whatever portal, moving in whichever direction! Come for the comeliness and delectability and stay for the craziness and crosshatching!
I for one am thankful that producing and reading comics can both be done while sheltering in place.
Listen you your Pops, peeps.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Groovy, Kinda has the best commenters anywhere.
You’re right about comics and sheltering in place. While I’m working long hours, I find a respite in these pages. I hope you new readers do too.
Please, don’t feel shy about dropping a line. We all would love to hear from you.
As someone who is rather late is saying this after being a fan and infrequent comment writer…Thank you. Even when the world isn’t gripped by disaster you have been an essential person for many of the silent majority. GROOVY is a real lift for many of us and sometimes a way to deal with our own hardships.
Thank you for lifting us up, helping us out, and your tireless labors to do so.
Glen, thank
I can’t tell you how much your words meant to me. It’s so good to know that others are getting the same thing from Groovy, Kinda that I am, and that it’s giving the same, what, relief? to you that it does to me.
Without going into too much detail, Groovy, Kinda grew out of a personal tragedy, and has continued to be the “world that I want to live in.” That’s why I spend so much time here. It’s a comfort and a joy to see every day that I’m not alone, and that I can bring some of the happiness of the Groovyverse to you.
Again, thank you.
Oh, now I HAVE to see Penelope… LOVE the hat!
Hiya Ben! If you want to see more of Penelope’s outfit, one of her predecessors is wearing the official Building 7 Receptionist outfit here.
Thanks Pops and Charlie, things re the panels are now clear. Still wondering about the last panel, even if Edison is at her cabin door in somewhat revealing garb, I do remember she gave the door keys to Kilroy. So I wonder what may have already been happening – or not as the case may be. Charlie you are keeping us on the edge again, we’ll done.
New readers, welcome to a crazy, friendly and groovy world.
Couldn’t have said it better, Chris.
Eleanor’s imagine spots are great. I like that she usually thinks of how something will benefit her first, then considers the drawbacks (the horrible, horrible drawbacks). Shows that while her first instinct tends to be self-serving and hedonistic, she’s smart enough not to let that distract her from how badly things could go wrong.
And then, without fail, she figures out the most spiteful and sassy way around the problem possible.
Another astute observation, my dear. Yes, Eleanor usually thinks about the benefits to her first, and then, if she hasn’t already acted, how they’ll affect The Big Five: Larry, Nelson, Toivo, Lyssa, and Anya. Oh, and Stephanie.
It’s almost like she has a conscience.
Well, a six pointed one, anyway.
