Many years ago I knew a wonderful woman. We were good friends, but, since she lived across the water we drifted apart and didn’t see each other for a long time. Many ears later I ran into her sister. “How is your sister doing?” I asked.

“She died,” she said. “She had a blood clot in her leg and it went to her brain.”

I was shocked and saddened. And I realized that, even if I never saw her again, I liked knowing that someone as wonderful as my friend was out there somewhere. So not only did I miss her, I missed living in that world.
