2 things:
1) Larry, stop talking. Everything you say will dig you deeper and deeper. You have very little (if any) chance of winning this one.
2) That’s not the response Stephanie usually shows when these two fight. What’s on her mind, I wonder?
Well, okay, I know. And you will too, next week! Stick around!
I sure do hope Stephanie saves the day.
Unexpectedly, hilariously, cutely, and groovily — I’m counting on her to do it.
Ah, we’ll see if she can live up to those high expectations, Pops, my friend.
I do think “cutely” is pretty much a given with her, though.
I don’t think Larry’s being unreasonable. Edison’s reaction is very much like a teenager who’s been accused of something they may or may not have done.
That third panel, tho. Love her leaning against the lampost, being incredulous.
I love that panel too. It’s one of my favorite Edison’s ever. Dumb luck triumphs again.
And yeah, she’s really showing off her “don’t wanna, you can’t make me” attitude.
Let’s just hope she doesn’t go too far and say something she’ll regret.
Stephanie probably can’t talk any sense into her, but maybe she can defuse the current clearly-not-involving-meaningful-communication argument until Edison is ready to be An Adult about this.
Sometimes that’s all it takes.
And sometimes it takes (SPOILER) knowing something that nobody knows you know.
Edison…. is losing her shine for me. I know alcoholism is an illness. I KNOW this. Knowing that doesn’t help make me less tired of her crap – especially when she went through the “cure” in space. Which essentially traded one vice for another but … It makes me sad that her personality as a drunk is so much more likeable than her sober self.
Also, I really REALLY miss her white hair.
I share your feelings, Tru. I love Edison. But sometimes she makes me crazy.
“… It makes me sad that her personality as a drunk is so much more likeable than her sober self.”
It is, isn’t it? Maybe it’s because she started that way, or maybe because we’ve seen her that way much more often. I’ve discovered that the lines she writes when she’s drunk usually come out funnier. I don’t know why that is.
The white hair (which I kept because I really don’t like how I draw dark hair) may make a comeback soon.
I love the breathalizer panel!
