Poor Amy.
Do you remember when Stephanie found out about Phyl’s death? Well, it was three years ago, after all (in our time). It was only a few weeks ago in the Groovyverse.
This strip was a surprise to me. I was working on next week’s strip (which is a lot less heavy than this one), and I suddenly realized how Amy would deal with this. So here we are.
Next week, it’s the triumphant return of someone! And someone finally meets someone else! And maybe those poor Yakutis melons will get cleaned up!
Thank you. For portraying (in your own inimitable fashion) a very real human reaction.
Yes.
That ALL of that!
Thank you.
Once this strip came to me, I wondered if it would be too heavy to publish. But that would’ve felt dishonest. And I owe Amy.
Sometimes I feel more like a reporter than a writer of this strip. Amy wrote this one.
Some of that outburst may have come from personal guilt. As Phyl’s assistant, she was also her chief enabler.
(In Amy’s partial defense, she was distracted by all that lovely debauchery sitting there just waiting to be picked up….)
Yes. And some of it is frustration. She and Stephanie were planning to have Phyl go into rehab when she died.
They were already so close to saving her life, and this would’ve given them even more hope.
An unexpected turn of events, but we have to agree this is a very human reaction.
