Looks like someone wants her catamite back. I think that this would be a good opportunity for Anya to decide out whether this is a love worth fighting for or a passing infatuation. For Jacob’s sake, I hope that Anya grows a pair ovaries.
I can’t say much without giving something away. Remember, Anya is supposed to meet with Jacob’s father on Friday.
Eleanor could throw a monkeywrench into the whole affair, however.
Wow, I almost didn’t recognize Jacob with that hair! He truly looks like a boy scout in that outfit, too. Which, uh, does make this page kinda weird for me as a result, though I do really like that interrupting word balloon in the first panel. Very well-placed.
Thank you.
I almost went with his regular hair, but thought it’d be more “boy scoutish” if it was slicked back. Didn’t have time to get him into his Smokey Bear hat. Maybe next strip.
Oh dear. It’s going to be interesting to see which way Anya goes with this. After talking to Edison and Larry, she more or less has the info she needs to make a decision. (Apart from Eleanor’s actual intentions.) I can’t way to see which way she will swing. I’m a bit worried about it too.
You’re right to be worried.
There’s what Anya wants, and then there’s what Eleanor wants.
Anya’s no fool-she does have the information. But is she strong enough? Is being strong what’s required here?
“If you’re looking for adventure of a new and different kind
And you come across a Girl Scout who is similarly inclined
Don’t be nervous, don’t be flustered, don’t be scared – BE PREPARED!”
– Tom Lehrer, “Be Prepared”
Speaking as a former Boy Scout, I’m sure Jacob’s tentmates would fully support his actions.
You’re a Scoutmaster? That’s great! I loved the Boy Scouts.
My only regret in having a daughter is that we couldn’t do the Boy Scouts. So I became a registered, card-carrying member of the Girl Scouts instead.
When she turns 14, look for a BSA Venturing Crew. Those are co-ed. Or keep her in girl scouts. I think they have teenage groups too. You’d know better on that one than I.
Scifijoe has a theory about Eleanor’s theory, and I’m curious as to what that theory is.
I know what Eleanor’s thinking. I want to know what you (and you, and especially, you) think.
Well, I have a couple of them. However, I will wait and see before I reveal everything. Just for the giggles and shear bloody minded heck of it. I ‘ll go with one that is very unlikely. Vicky finds evidence that proves Eleanor is behind the first missing of and gruesome deaths of their parents. She then confronts Eleanor about it and Eleanor attacks and seriously scars Vicky’s face. Vicky passes out and Eleanor simulates arguing with her and throws her and all evidence through the Door. She suspects Larry does not quite believe her story and wants to get enough of a head start for a counter move.
But that is only the UNLIKEY one. I tend to have some ‘interesting’ takes on some stories.
Check out Dragonsreach’s page sometime. He paints model figures. And he’s awfully good at it.
Delta-v, it’s not that easy finding just the right artist. There are a lot more writers out there than artists.
Plus, artists are temperamental, and cranky, and they miss deadlines, and…well, I know I am and I do.
But drawing skills aren’t the most important element in a comic. The writing is. You can get by with stick figures if your writing is solid.
Couldn’t agree more. We’re just fortunate that your drawing skills are ALSO first-rate, but it’s your wordsmithery that keeps me here.
And, yeah, artists. I’m a picture framer, so I work with artists professionally, and oh, you nailed it. The average artist is like a two-year-old, but more stubborn, and with a smaller sense of responsibility, and a shorter attention span. That’s why I used the term “compatible”.
Still no excuse, Scfijoe. Check out “The Flying Cloud, R-505”. One small sketch, a whole page of text. Start writing.
hi, thanks for the encouraging words. I will look into it.
Anyway, in my theory, I am assuming something that so far I have not seen, Eleanor may vain, rude and a control person BUT she is NOT EVIL.
Not good but not evil in the serial killer mode. I don’t know the bit about her parents is pure fiction. I do not think she could do it to her parents and/or Vickie. BUT, it was fun thinking about it.
OK Panel 3…………….You just turned the heat up!
Eleanor still thinks she controls Anya – pull the string, make her jump. Let’s hope the puppet cuts those strings soon.

Speaking as a current Scoutmaster, I’m not sure BSA would condone Jacob’s behavior 😉

I bet Anya’d give him a merit badge for that smooch.
I once kissed a girl like that, but then I woke up, and my pillow was all slobbery…

“We want information. Information. IN-FOR-MA-TION!”
“You won’t get it!”
“By hook or by crook…we will.”
“I am not a number! I am a Children’s Librarian!”
I’m no expert on Dom-Sub behavior, but I hear that it’s addictive in nature, and Elanor’s wearing her Dom outfit. What, oh what will happen next?
Hee-hee. Wait till you see.
hi, I think Eleanor just wants to confirm a theory she has about Larry and Co. Seeing how Anya will react is how.
You have piqued my curiosity. What theory?
We shall soon find out!!!
Isn’t this conversation a little … backwards?
” Backward ran sentences until reeled the mind.”

Yes, yes you do. I like it.
One question: Why aren’t you writing webcomics? You’ve got a great imagination!
Good imagination, not worth a darn drawing skills. model building yes, drawing. . .
About a third of the comics I read have a writer AND an artist. Excuse rejected. Look for a compatible artist. “)

And then you can join the Webcomic Underdogs, and get all the support you need.
Plus, I’ll put a cameo of your characters in my strip!
Example of stick comic that’s very successful: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0943.html

should be: I don’t know whether the bit. . . .
sorry, fingers move faster than brain. Sometime.
“Eleanor may be vain, rude and a control person BUT she is NOT EVIL.”
Exactly.
Though it may be hard to remember that sometimes.
