Hmmm… looks like Stephanie’s taken a step toward learning what kind of humachinal she is. And one toward becoming more human. We’ll just have to see where this one takes us.
Next time we’re taking a trip to somewhere else with two other fun folks and an object that… well, you’ll see.
And another Tracy cameo, this time by a villain, but it’s been so long since I read Dick Tracy I don’t know the name anymore.
I don’t think that was a villain, I think it was a police detective who assisted Tracy at times. But I can’t think of his name, either. Possibly something stereotypicaly Irish?
*two Ls in ‘stereotypically’*
Sam Catchem! Had to google it.
It is indeed Sam Catchem, Dick Tracy’s faithful sidekick. I’m so glad you recognized him!
You’ll be seeing more Dick Tracy characters in upcoming strips.
I’ll let you know why in a bit.
I love how Stephanie’s conception of bad boys was deliberately programmed to show Greasers
It’s probably not her programming. Since she’s been living with Larry and Edison, she’s expanded her horizons, through fine literature.
Betsy books? I must be dense because I’m not getting that reference
I think that may have been the underground comix version of Betty and Vernonica….
More or less. Larry has a huge collection of comics. Stephanie generally prefers the simpler, funnier ones, like “Betsy & Me,” or “Pap,” or “Betsy & Vyronikos (Betsy’s adventures with her friend, the daughter of a Greek shipping tycoon),” or “Smarchie’s TV Madhouse Laugh Funnies.” Oh, that Smarchie and his wacky misadventures.
And since many of the issues are from the 50s & 60s, the good natured villains are of the harmless motorcycle gang sort. Think of our world’s Beach Party movies.
