Well, she does have a point. Larry may not forgive her, but he might want to pretend just to spite Eleanor. I guess it depends on where he wants their relationship to go. I mean, if he wants to break up, why bother?
We’ll see more next time-and spy on some folk we haven’t seen in a bit.
Second try (oops)
Just caught up to the present.
Spent all of January reading from the start, read ALL the comments too!
Charlie, please setup something like KO-FI so we may send you cash.
Oh, folks have commented on your drawing style, I’ll add my 2ยข.
I grew older (not sure I can say grew up!) reading ZAP Comix.
Yes, your pen & ink reminds me of R.Crumb.
Hey Questaduc!
KO-FI? I’ll have to ask my more computer-savvy friends (everyone who isn’t me) how to do that. It would be nice to make up the cost of paper, pens, and ink, not to mention that 11 x 17 flatbed scanner I still want to replace my old one with.
It’s funny-I read some ZAP! Comix back in the dim dark past, but I was never much of an R. Crumb fan. I grew to appreciate him more as I aged (not grew up!).
I was, and still am, a huge “Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers” fan. I think Gilbert Shelton, Dave Sheridan, and Paul Mavrides were my biggest influences. Biggest influences who weren’t Dan deCarlo, of course.
Also, that fourth panel? Totally ripped off from-I mean, inspired by– John Tenniel’s “Alice in Wonderland” stuff.
Eleanor’s upswept hairstyles? I have some original Charles Dana Gibson books. Those styles actually existed.
Let’s examine Edison’s points one by one. First point, the way she worded it, she reduced the universe of people she would cheat with by….one. It’s also coming from someone who has spent more time “off the wagon” than on it. –conclusion: Not Convincing.
Second point, rather begs the question of whether that combination itself is the best that Larry can do. Shameless manipulation of Larry’s emotions.
Conclusion: Semi-effective, because Larry.
Third point, only works because of Larry’s past experiences with Eleanor, and Larry has had a LOT of past experiences with Eleanor.
Conclusion: Home Run, because Eleanor.
You don’t have to be lucky or good if you have an ace like that for a trump card. ^^
Oh, Uncle Delta, you perceptive man, you.
Yes, Edison was being very honest with Point #1. This is important to her. She wants to keep Larry, and, even though she’s cheated on him, she doesn’t want to lie. I know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but these are human beings we’re dealing with.
She won’t frolic with Rad. But why didn’t she just say she won’t frolic with anybody? Is there someone in particular she still plans to cheat on Larry with?
Point #2: They’ve shared a lot of wonderful moments together. Occasionally I’ll just do a strip illustrating that.
Also, they’re almost perfect together-the strings never lie.
Sure, she sometimes shamelessly manipulates him. She’d be the first to tell you that it’s because he’s a boy, and they don’t always know what’s best. Stumbles aside, she loves Larry and Stephanie, and she doesn’t want to see this relationship end.
And yes, she knows her man. Because Larry.
Point #3. Game, Set, and Match. If you can play the Eleanor Card…
Just be careful the Eleanor Card doesn’t play you.The Ace of Spades may beat all others, but it’s also the Death Card.
