Oh that Eleanor. Playing Anya like a puppet on a line.
So that’s the plan-or our government’s part of it anyway-get Jacob away from Anya for the Summer and hope that things cool off a bit. Plus, the royal family can get a good look at him while he’s over there. Who knows? They might like him.
So, I have some major life changes coming up (moving, new job, etc.) so this is gonna be the last comic for a while. As soon as life settles down to a dull roar, I’ll let you know what’s happening.
Rest assured, I am taking my drawing table and supplies along for the ride!
And yes, I had Barnes & Barnes’ “Fish Heads” going through my mind as I drew this.
UPDATE: Okay, I’ve moved! I don’t have my own place just yet, but I did set up my drawing table. I’ve finished one strip, but, since I don’t have a computer, I can’t scan it and publish yet. Never fear, that time is coming. In the meantime, I’m writing and drawing more strips.
So, please, keep checking back. There should be at least one more strip by next month. And thank you again for your patience. You’re the best.
I mean, he is young, so at least he’d be good at the whole “helping to produce heirs” thing? And what royal parent doesn’t appreciate that in a potential son-in-law!
Good luck with all your life happenings, Charlie. We’ll miss you! But I’ll be here when you get back 😀
Thanks, mj! I can’t wait to see what you’re up to. Big doin’s from one of my favorite creators on the horizon, everybody. Stay tuned.
Yeah, he’s good breeding stock, that’s for sure. But, when royal blood flows through one’s veins (and more important one’s parent’s veins) certain customs must be adhered to. Like marrying someone closer to one’s class, and marrying for connections. It gets complicated. For all we know, a suitable suitor’s been picked out.
Hope he has a suitable suit that suits his betrothed’s parents! All suitor need a suitable suit for suitor-ing.
So Jacob is going to the place where Anya’s twin sister lives? The one that looks exactly like Anya? Talk about the possibility for emotional confusion. O.o
And what if Anya’s sister starts thinking, “Hmmmmm. interesting….”. O.o O.o
I can hardly wait. ^^
Ahh, good points all. Yes, he may meet the Princess. He’ll certainly see her image on posters and billboards. But she does look a bit different from our dear Anya. I’ll leave it up to you on that.
And if the Princess sees Jacob and thinks: “Hmmmmm, interesting..?” Her parents will ship her off on a goodwill tour to Antarctica.
I love how Anya sees through Eleanor — just not very far through.
Moving! Just about my least favorite thing in all the world! Hope you’re better at it than I am — are you going cross-country, cross-town, or just across the street?
Not as far as she thinks.
Yeesh-moving. Two states over. From Washington to California. I’m going down in my truck and it was so overloaded with books that I had to “sniff” leave 11 boxes of comics with my daughter. Oh well, I’ll be back for them. And the other boxes of books…
Can’t wait to hear about your adventure, Charlie. At least I hope it’s an adventure, and not a drag to move. Take your time and get settled. We, your ever loyal fans will be here, waiting for your return. And what a place you leave us in. I love this relationship between Anya and Eleanor. More of that!
Thanks, brother. So far it’s been a fun adventure. Moving from Washington State to Northern California (near, but not in the burnt part).
Settle into your new existence, not sure how I’ll cope with the wait, but hey…ww’ll be moving as well. Good luck, Charlie.
Oh, good luck with the move, Chris. So far mine’s been uneventful (knock wood). Now that I’m here, the real craziness is going to start. I’ll let you know more in the near future.
Well, we survived a Monday without a Groovy update, so I guess we’re made of sterno stuff…. How fares Charlie’s one-truck wagon train to greener pastures?
Welp, I’m down here in Sunny California, working on setting everything up for my new fabulous job (more on that in a future installment).
I still haven’t moved enough boxes to set up the drawing table, but that’s in the immediate future as well. I think we’ll leave these two lovebirds for a bit. More to come!
Conga-rats on the move, Charlie! I just moved from San Francisco to SoCal myself a couple of months ago. My wife and I are staying with my cousin and his wife while we buy a house and get it renovated. Just couldn’t afford San Francisco any more… 8′-(
Conga-rats back atcha, Storel! I understand your plight. I lived in SF in the early 80s (worked at a 3 story B. Daltons Booksellers downtown by day and The Magic Theatre by night) and it was pricey back then.
It’s gonna be a while before I get my own place, but when I do, I’m unpacking two truckloads of books and comics and setting up a studio!
Eat them up, YUM!
I hope moving has gone well. I swore I’d never move again when I bought my current home – that was in 1996 and I’m still here. Not as easy getting to the 2nd floor as it used to be but I persevere. Moving is the PITS.
We won’t rush you, but it’s nice that you’re responding to comments so at least we know you’re not completely entangled in all this new stuff. Very curious to know where this story is going next, and with whom. It’s hard to settle when I’ve grown so fond of ALL the characters. Yes, even Eleanor, though I still think she needs a rheostat.
Hey Tru!
I hate moving too (who doesn’t?), but this has gone pretty smoothly, It did involve a LOT of driving-two trips between California and Washington (my poor truck) and it’ll involve a lot of commuting and/or finding a temporary place to live for a month while I get my CDL. But I’m working on the rest of the story, and I’ll find a place to draw it.
I will give you a hint on where it’s probably going to go next: it’s Thursday.
Its been about a month since we heard from you Charlie. You okay? How are the new digs?
I have been busy, busy, busy. Working for a new library system, commuting an hour and a half a day (I’m looking for permanent digs), and just generally dealing with massive dust settling.
But, as I mentioned to Tru, there are new strips! Yay! Let’s end 2017 right!
With chickens!
We don’t forget. I for one check a couple of times a week, at least, to see if you’ve dropped a passing hello. 🙂
Oh Tru, I love you. Thanks for sticking around.
Hey! How about a new strip? I’ve drawn a few, and now that I’m on my computer (for a few days) I can letter them and post!
Stick around. There should be one up tomorrow.
