Ah yes, hang on…something in my eye…
That’s better.
First off, let me thank Michael and Marisa for creating the Comic Underdogs. Without them, I never would’ve met great people like Hjels, the creator of October 20th and today’s strip. Man, I can’t thank you enough for this. It’s beautiful.
Also, a big thanks to melaredblu, creator of Princess Chroma, for Eleanor’s line.
There’s a callback to a strip I did for him recently, and for some reason, it really gets me right here. Hang on a second.
Okay, now, back to Groovy, Kinda. I’m working on something special and a little different right now. I’m writing a storyline that will take a few strips to tell. Now, normally I just start a storyline with an idea of where it’s going and make most of it up as I go along.
But this time I wanted to write it out first-beginning, middle, and end-before I start posting it. That’s what I did with melaredblu and hippo on the crossovers, and it worked out nicely.
Also, I’ve had a couple of times where I’ve started something and hit an artist’s block and couldn’t finish it (Phyl’s memorial, for example).
So, I probably won’t have a strip up this Thursday, but I should be able to start the new storyline on Monday. Thanks for you patience with all this. I think you’ll like the result.
And here’s a hint: it’s got some people we haven’t seen in over a year (real time, not Groovy, Kinda time). Stick around!
Hehe, Reade’s collected a hat trophy from one of her victims, I see.
Absolutely glorious page, Marius! And I love how you’re so skilled in mixing sentiment with humor.
Vorto’s Cafe sure is a popular spot, isn’t it? They must have some killer club sandwiches there.
Yeah, Reade probably has an imaginary hope chest in the back, full of things like that.
Vorto’s is where the elite meet to greet and eat! All the cool kids are doin’ it.
I LOVE how Marius can put humor and heart together in one strip. That’s one of the many things that makes October 20th one of my all time favorite strips.
That’s what keeps me coming back, too. ^^
Thank you. That really does mean a lot.
Given all the horrible things Kat’s had to deal with, it’s heartwarming to see her go to a place where horribly messed up people can live with each other in relative peace and comfort. If only briefly.
I can understand the appeal. Sometimes she gets to hang out at Vorto’s, and sometimes she gets to be an airship pilot.
This was an interesting slice of life. Stephanie projects something that makes people around her comfortable. That is a very valuable attribute of Stephanie.
Eleanor has worn hats before, right?
Eleanor has worn hats on occasion, but it’s not a regular thing, like with Edison.
Stephanie really does make everyone around her relax, doesn’t she?
Maybe that’s a clue to the kind of robot she is?
Ah well, that’s for another strip.
Aarrgghh! This new system wiped out my cookies!! The above comment is mine. Sorry about that.
And I’m the “Anonymous” above yours. ><
I liked the two “anonymous” bits!
Ah, I’d’ve known you two anywhere.
What an awesome tribute to an awesome comic! It’s true, it’s the people who keep us coming back–to this comic, and to places in real life. Cause those insane and mad characters are your family, at the end of the day.
Oh mj, thank you. Yeah, love ’em or hate ’em, they are family.
How come I have not commented on this one!!!
Let’s correct that immediately.
Hjels, this is simply breathtaking, how you managed to get all the feelings inside of Cat expressed into the GK territory. Awesome strip and a nice crossover.
